i am about to purchase my new PC.
i have a big question.

i have a 3 DSP system:
scope 14 dsp
pulsar 1 with all plugins registered and SFP5.1
luna 3 dsp

if i go for anew pc with socket 1156 i can find a mobo with 3 pci slots (asus p7p55).
socket 1376 does not offer, as i know, mobo with 3 PCI slots - do you know one?
the new 1155 socket could offer 3 PCI but it's relatively new.

i do not need all the midi and in_out connections of my 3 dsp boards.
and with a new pc i will have plenty of horsepower for mixing in sonar 8.5.
so, should i sell the luna to drop one pci slot?



socket 1376 should be faster than 1156, right? is it worth 3 DSP? probably yes but which is your experience? do you have any suggestion?

Socket 1155 together with the new Intel Sandy Bridge CPU's are being released for sale next week. That's what you should aim for imho and what I'm getting!

I've got 1x Luna II with breakoutbox and 2x Pulsar II's so I'm pretty much in the same seat as you with most of my stuff registered to my Luna II!

Both MSI and Gigabyte showcased some 3xPCI mobos some months ago, but if these will come into production is yet to be seen, less than a week left though!
Haven't seen a 3xPCI ASUS yet though

i started a thread regarding socket 1155 but honestly i don't know since it's really brand new and i should buy the new pc this month or in february at least...

I'll be at the CES tomorrow all day and night and even have a private invite to the Hilton to see USB 3.0 RAID sticks. Last year the company took my email and I figured I would never hear from them, but I complained that they were using video apps that were well optimized and had no audio. So this year I will roll my rack into the show and actually get to use them.

While I am there I will also be visiting the MSI and Gigabyte booths since they have the nicest looking Asian babes and they know that Yanks prefer having some violence and gratuitous sex involved with their marketing schemes...

But this show is much closer to home, it's free and it makes NAMM look like Amatuer Hour.

But I would watch out for these new Sandy Bridge mobos. I had poor experiences using the i3/i5's because of the GPU getting first access to data. The memory controller took back seat.
This was suppose to be changed in Sandy Bridge. If not, don't waste your money unless you are a Scope only guy.
Native apps seem to be fine on dual channel RAM mobos using 1156, but the best performance is coming from triple channel RAM boards like all of the Macs have, and any PC enthusiast uses.
