Hello !

I´m a new user of Scope v.4.0 running on a Scope Classic 15DSP card which I got as a gift incl. standard and some Zarg devices.
Actually, I run the system in my test machine, a single processor PC (ASUS P4T-E / P4 2.8 SL7EY / 2GB Rambus 40ns / Matrox G550 / Enermay 450W PSU / 2 7.200rpm HDs w/ MB cache) built in a rackmount case.

I´m very pleased w/ Scope and it runs fine.

Having in mind to upgrade to Scope 4.5/5.0 and eventually to buy a Xite-1 for gigging beginning next year, for me it´s essential to know if Scope ASIO drivers are "multiclient" because I want to built a much faster rackmount machine running Scope, Reason and Cantabile as a VST(i) host.

I installed successfully the ASIO patch for Cubase 4.1 as well as the ASIO multiclient beta driver which was mentioned here in a thread.
It works,- but I get occasional clicks and pops here and there which might be caused by the multiclient driver beta I´m using.

I know, I have the chance to install a Rewire capable VST host, rewire Reason and use a Scope ASIO input module for Cantabiles outputs, but I´d like to avoid Rewire and a full blown DAW host software for gigging.
Unfortunally, Cantabile is the host I want but it doesn´t support Rewire anyway,- so a ASIO multiclient driver would be the best solution.

So, are Scope 4.5 and/or 5.0 ASIO drivers multiclient ?

That thread deals w/ MIDI multiclient drivers, not ASIO.

I don´t have any MIDI probs at all, you can have as much MIDI drivers as you want on a computer, each one driving different MIDI interfaces, all ports visible in the apps.
I´m using Scope MIDI and a Music Quest (Opcode) 8portSE simultaneously and being able to access the Scope devices, my VST stuff and Reason simultaneously.

My prob is connecting the main stereo outputs of a VST host and Reason to a Scope Mixer, 1632 w/ stereo inputs activated in my case,- and I also have the stereo outs of Minimax, Prodyssey, Vectron(Player) and Lightwave on that mixer.

Seems I´m nearly the only one who tried the ASIO multiclient wrapper from Steinberg w/ Scope 4.0 ASIO here.
Basicly, it works, no interuption of audio stream, but from time to time it pops, clicks and crackles, especially if you play fast runs and/or use the wheels of a controller heavily or hold very long notes w sutain pedal or by pressing a key.
To my surprise, the ASIO patch for Cubase 4.1 helped a bit,- I´m using Scope ASIO-2 flt 64 In device @ 7ms latency in ULLI @ 44.1KHz,- and I´m on a Win XP 32Bit SP2 w/ my test machine.

The idea of that multiclient ASIO wrapper is brilliant, it´s easy to install and easy to operate.
The apps find their inputs on the target ASIO driver flawlessly, as expected and as programmed in the apps.
It also works in a startup project.

It´s sad there´s no workaround or click- and pop free solution,- the Scope synths together with some Reason devices and some VSTis are a killer live rig for the gigging musician and there´s low latency already on my old test machine,- only the annoying occasional clicks, pops and crackles are the last issue.

I could post a screenshot of my project here but don´t know how to do because I´m not really familiar w/ that forum here up to now.

PS. If your answer is latency then keep in mind low-latency performance improves with faster computer, and you said you'll be building a new computer.

Yes, I tried the Wave drivers before I posted here and the latency was way too much compared to the ASIO latency.
Please have in mind I´m talking about live usage for pro touring/gigging,- not recording.

In a recording environment, I´d be happy w/ the WAVE I/O modules, but I´d also be happy w/ Rewire or maybe XTC.

In fact, I already have a faster DAW for recording, Intel 2x 3.8Ghz Dual Core.
It´s a ASUS P5WD2 Premium mobo, NVidia 9500 graphics, Corsair HX 520 PSU, 4GB Mushkin Redline PC800, WinXP 32Bit SP3 and 3 WD Caviar Black 640GB HDs.
Actually, I have a RME 96/52 card built in and usea Midex-8 for MIDI.

That mobo is Intel 955X / ICH 7R

Would that be compatible w/ a Scope 15DSP Classic ?

Hi Garry !

For live (realtime) low latency performance, Scope provides me w/ some hi quality vintage synths playable w/ NO latency.
It´s also easy to integrate a VST instruments rack using ONE ASIO Source module,- but to use Reason as a instruments rack in addition, that sucks w/ a WAVE driver, especially if you do splits and layers across masterkeybds and across the applications (I can do that w/ my Miditemp PMM88E).
I might become better w/ a faster machine, but the difference will still be there.

It´s not a issue, bug or such,- it´s a special demand I have and not a Creamware/Sonic Core prob,- it´s a ASIO prob which is a Steinberg standard.
In general, I find it somewhat weird, only 1 ASIO app occupies a driver totally if only 2 ASIO channels are in use by this app, so the rest of the theoretical available channels cannot be used by another app.
It´s also not depends on usage of Reason,- the same prob occurs if you want to use NI Kontakt in standalone mode p.ex..

In regards of Reason, trying to create a startup project w/ Scope (which works fine) but followed by autostarting the VST instruments rack incl. the plugins for the 1st "scene" (or rack) and a autostart of Reason w/ the 1st document loaded, this will never be possible w/ rewire I fear.

Anyway, I´ll now use Reaper as the VST(i) host using a ASIO Source for connection to Scope mixer and rewire Reason w/ only 16 MIDI-channels into Reaper,- but I doubt it could be automated that way I boot the machine and it´s ready to play.

I´m somewhat in the same situation like XiteAlive here in the forum, I have a large hardware gigging rig and I want to recreate that in software for mobility.
A multiclient ASIO driver for Xite-1 would be a great improvement and there must be a reason why this Charlie Steinberg ASIO MultiClient exists, you know !
It´s just only not perfect but the right idea.

Yes, I assume you do it in your studio but you use it live too ???
I own Cubase SX3, need the fxp/fxb standard not to lose all my presets.
Only using p.ex. NI B4II upper, lower manuals and pedals eats up 3 physical MIDI ports and 3 instances of B4II in different tracks to access B4II on 3 differnt MIDI channels, that´s unacceptable.
Same w/GSi VB3 ...

Cubase is the last in line host I´d use for live gigging.

get this always:

Wave drivers can get very low with buffer-size. I see your problem tho. When i use to use Propellerhead's Reason i always used Asio and i decided to load Reason and try its 'dx Wave' today. Reason's dx-Wave only go as low as 5ms and that 5ms feels like 15ms or more when i play my keyboard. With Sonar's 'WDM Wave' i get 1.5ms at the same samplerate of 44khz and it feels much much better.



EDITED: 1.5ms with Sonar at 44khz with WDM Wave. 2.6ghz i7 920 Quadcore.

Whats the size of the jpg youre trying to post ?

I tried several sizes, resized w/ Mihov Image Resizer by different factors.
Factor 500 results in a size of 500x400 / 96dpi /24Bit / jpg
If I look at that pic, I cannot read the text in the pic anymore.

I get the same error message always.

If I watch other screenshots here, these seem to be pretty large.
