Pulsar high end plugs? dare you mix with it? anyone a famous
I'm interested in doing my mix all alone on two PC's that comes digitally together in the one's pulsar board. I do the whole mix in the sequencers and i'd like to know if i could use some eq's and compressors, reverbs from pulsar without compromising the sound quality. What for great plugs does it have to fillfull my needs (waves, TC quality). I acctually didn't try some pay devices but worked with freebies and creanware stuff for the board.
Thanx.

I haven't tried the MasterVerb yet but concidering the amount of DSP it uses it can't be very professional. I think that the best way to mix (the way I do it) with Pulsar is to use a TC (Lexicons won't work with Pulsar 1 S/P-DIF loop, I've heard) rack verb and do the other stuff in Pulsar. Atleast I like the delays, eqs, compressors and other stuff. Of course they could be more neutral but their sound fit in my music.

please remember that most succesful lexicon desingns are from mid 80s. do you remember how cpus and dsps looked then?
masterverb is really worth checking for both sound quality and tweakability. things that are possible with ERs got me going.
btw could anyone share his feeling about comparing waves renverb to it? i don't have it and am curious cos renverb has got opinion of the best of native.

I think the TC in question here is the TC Works plug-ins & not the rack verbs, which the STW 4080L easily betters in clarity & smoothness. It's also a lot easier to use than the Waves Trueverb (haven't tried the Renverb). The entire STW bundle for Pulsar is excellent, their mastering compressor is one of the best limiters/loudness maximizers there is.
btw, the spdif loop issue will depend on the gear in question, the TC rack stuff may work fine if they handle things properly.

Ok once again.
The Pulsar I does NOT work with a sp/dif loop. Actually the sp/dif protocol does'nt support a loop. Because it has sync built in the protocol it would be like a dog chasing his own tail. However there is a workaround (how?? I don't know) that is implemented in Pulsar 2 that makes this possible.
Ok? Agree? Fine, i thought so.

if you can afford a luna2, you are also able to hook up your lexicon verbs (<i>and</i> have three more dsp´s for even more masterverbs). On 2001-10-03 20:24, braincell wrote:
I can't afford a Pulsar II though. The Masterverb sounds great and it's easier than hooking up my Lexicons.
have fun,

Just to straighten things out.
Pulsar I does'nt work with a sp/dif loop but Pulsar II does.
So it is not the Lexicons fault, it would'nt work with a TC either.
I work with TC M2000 on Pulsar 1 and it works fine when I slave to sp/dif.

Agree that "slave pulsar sp/dif" does the trick, it works here too!
