Hey there,

Would really appreciate some help here please..........

im trying to use scope 5 with cubase 5 , ive just updated both programs from previously using scope 3 and cubase CS3x.

i cant work out how to get the ASIO setup in scope and cubase, which means i cant get any signal from my outboard gear to cubase for recording.

i have all my outboard synths going to the main stereo inputs of the pulsar card via an ext mixer.

im using the STM2448 mixer.

ANY suggestions on how to setup a scope project to use with cubase?
do i need to setup ASIO SOURCE & DEST modules and if so how do i connect them in the project?

this may seem really simple to some scope users, but i cant work it out.

first a review of the basics that you know:

cubase is a multitrack recorder which is in the "room" of the Scope routing window. the in and output jacks for Cubase are the asio source and dest modules. right clicking on a source module will allow you to bring up the settings dialog which will let you choose the number of inputs(asio dest) and outputs(asio source) available to Cubase.

you must have a matching pair of asio modules with the correct number of i/o channels BEFORE opening Cubase. in Cubase you can go to device setup and choose the asio driver. in the vst connections window(no longer used or needed in Cubase 5?) you can set up the number of usable in and out busses.

in the Scope routing window, you can connect the asio modules as needed to hear playback(into a mixer probably) and to record(from a mixer, synth or other/external audio source). you can connect and disconnect the modules any way you like, but the MUST be present BEFORE opening Cubase, for Cubase to be able to "see" them.

your external stuff(pulsar analog source, probably) can go through the mixer via record busses or direct outs to the asio dest, or you can connect the source to both the mixer(for monitoring) and the asio dest(for recording) at the same time.

i now have audio in and out working between cubase, ext equipment and audio played on PC.

another question:
ive taken BUS 1&2 on the STM mixer and connected it to the ASIO Dest...that obviously works, but is this the right way of doing it? does it matter if i use control or studio outs to connect to the ASIO Dest module?

ive attached a screen shot of my project, can u check it out please and see if it looks right?

i do all my mixing in cubase
i need and only use 1 stereo input from external mixer = Analoge Source module
