I have happily run v4.5 software for years on my old 2gig pc and have been loathe to move on as it was so reliable (just rock solid), but needs must so I built a new pc with the following spec:
Intel DG965WH motherboard, 4gig patriot ram, Pentium Q6600 Core 2 Quad processor and a big beefy Coolermaster "real power" 800 watt power supply. Also replaced my Matrox p650 pci graphics card for the pci,e version.
I installed Sonic Core v.5, and upgraded to Cubase v.5 at the same time.
Since assembling the system there have been a lot of problems including frequent crashes. Others for example are: Project graphics partailly missing till the screen area is mouse clicked with the cursor over the area. Huge cpu spikes and audio crackling when moving the mouse (particularly in specific areas of the screens for some reason). Slow graphics, very long project load time, Can't get the latency very low without crackles, Strange plug in behavoir (for example: using Vinco when recording causes sound break up and totally random dynamic behavior) to name but a few.
Just to clarify I have managed to get my cards (1, Pulsar 2 2xs PowerSampler) all on there own irq's so I don't think there is any issue's there and I have tried re installing the software.
After a really bad day yesterday I gave up and decided to go back to v4.5. so I uninstalled v5 and started to install v4.5 but when I get to the point where I have the option to browse for my "Allkeys" file it is not possible to get the installer to recognise the file and progress with the installation. I also tried the painful process of manually entering the keys but the installer still does not give me the option to continue the instalation.
I have important projects started on Cubse 5 that people are screaming at me for and I can't continue till I resolve the situation and humbly ask if the community can help me through this problem.

What is the operating system? Hopefully WinXP, as V4.5 won't run under Vista.

It sounds like you have the IRQs sorted. Did you run with V4.5 at all, and with success on the new machine?

After un-installing V5 and re-installing V4.5, which keys are you trying to install? You'll need to point to the V4.5 keys, not the V5. Did you uninstall the V5 drivers as well, or just the Scope app?

For the new system, did you make sure you have the latest BIOS, and that you have installed the chipset firmware?

In answer to your queries first of all, yes the mobo has got built in graphics but I have disabled it and removed the driver.
Secondly I was very careful with the allkeys file making sure I used the last 4.5 set I had. In fact it looks to me like the V.5 keyfile is a totally different format to the V4.5 ones. Also made sure that all previous drivers were removed and updated the ASPI driver which I believe is essential. Both the bios and chipset drivers were brought up to date as well.
Actually I seem to have vague recollections of similar problems many years ago installing Creamware v3.1 and I think there was a work round where you dropped the "All keys" file directly to a folder somewhere in the instalation directory but I can't remember where!!
Had another try tonight re installing SC V.5 and there seems to be all manner of compatabilty issues with Cubase 5 which although full of weird problems seems to go totally balistic when you bring FX Teleport into the equation!!! Unfortunately I need the extra resources it gives me.
Anyhow still no nearer a resolution to the problems yet.

aspi's not needed(it might still be needed to read akai samples for sts, i don't know, but i doubt it).

there's no allkeys trick i know of that's needed either. i suspect something else in your setup is making your troubles....

you will find the allkeys file (cloaked as scope.rgy) in (I think it was) scope\app\bin, where the sfp.exe is located. make a backup of the existing file and copy your allkeys file there (with the name scope.rgy). make sure you do that while sfp is not running (and keep us posted if there is any progress )

in XP it's not needed in that situation either. Just tried a couple of Akai CDs yesterday.
But the reading process (from CD to sampler) was rather unreliable.
Best results with copy to harddisk first.

Had a reply from Creamware saying they think my problem with V.5 could be down to using 4gb of memory with XP32 which they say some motherboards can deal with but others cannot. Still struggling with a re install of V4.5 but I am going to make a 2nd primary partition on my drive tomorrow and try putting Scope v4.5 on it and see what happens with a clean install. I will post the results of that and a down grade in the quantity of memory.

Incidently Kylie what you mentioned sounds exactly what I was referring to as a (work around) in my earlier post. In fact I dug out some old Creamware info (september 2002) regarding installing V3.1a and found a garbled suggestion that this could work ) if you were having problems whilst installing (not as clearly put as your remarks however). Also mentions ASPI as being important for installation.
Here is the quote:
"Under Windows 2000/XP make sure you have the latest (v470/71) Adaptec ASPI layer installed which is available at the Adaptec website Otherwise the software might not install."

yeah, but that's really old. Creamware doesn't exist. the current company is Sonic/Core and although S/C bought all of Creamware's records and tech, and Holger and Jurgen were part of the original team that designed Scope, they are different companies...
