new ASIO1-32 driver

in my previous 4.5 projects i used the Asio1-16 module because i foudn it was slighly less demanding than asio 2, and never got problems with it.
now in 5.0 there is a module named
asio1-32
what the "32" means??
it referes to 32 bit?? if so the PCI demand would be far higher, isnt' it?
i notice that also the new ASIO2 module has the 32 tag attached.
does anyone has any info on this?
edit:
ok, i just noticed that in sonar the asio is recognized as 24 bit.
the asio-flt is recognized by sonar6 as asio 16 bit but it doesnt play ("device may not support the audio format it use").
what does "flt" stands for (floating?) and what does it really means??
what should i use?
i really don't need 24 bit as they eat a lot of PCI bandwidths (based on my previous experience).
if i load an old 4.5 project the asio 1-16 drivers are loaded and they seem to work (at least at a first glance).
should one copy the old ASIO1-source/dest files from the old 4.5 directory and use them?
