Does anyone have any info on the Luna II soundcard. The only info i have managed to find is from the Creamw@re website. Although this info was very detailed and stated all of the functions of the card, i would like an un-biased view of the card before i buy one.

Please Help Me!

Ps. does anyone know of any problems when using Creative Labs Graphics card within a D.A.W.?

Hi, I don't know about creative video cards, but i sure know Luna is great.

Great sound qualities, perfect for use with a nice sequencer like Logic  or Cubase.

Very low latency, and the recording mixer with routing facilities in Luna are greatly usefull.

Well, I would say it has a good sound quality.

The support is bad.

Some little bugs are known, but not mentioned or even accepted to be there?!?
They do not let you in there forum untill you spend money!!!
Some bugs are mentioned in this forum. Pulsar seems to have similar problems...

It works but could work better!

Takes some time to get into the software(-flexibility), too.

Sad, they leave you alone: Looking like a beginner - not an computer-expert or even a musician.

Not compatible to lots of hardware!

Hey Grabie, for myself, i had a very good support from creamware, from the very begening, they even called me directly on my cellphone (thanks again Paul) to solve some problem, and they solved it. This is my own experience though.

For compatibility, this is completely untrue, this card work in ANY computer with a PCI slot. The problem you talk about are motherboard related. And I can assure you, that if you had problem with luna, you have problem with lots of other 'hi-end' devices. For example, i had a Asus A7V before, had trouble with Luna2 PCI overflow. But i had the same problem when capturing video at full framerate before i had a Luna. This is related directly with the way the chipset handle PCI bandwidth. Since then, i changed my mb with a better chipset (intel i815) and now no more problem with luna, nor with capturing video, even with luna working at full dsp charge!

Has you can see, this is NOT a luna problem for sure. If you use hi-end devices, you should have hi-end components. The same apply to a car, would you put a 5.0L v8 turbo charged in a chevette?

Well, about the bugs, it's true some annoying thing happen here and there, like the 'nul pointer on left of bla-bla-bla', but nothing to stop you from working. And i agree they can do better, and surely will!

Hope that help those who needed advice or opinions.

Here in this thread, we have two, no so opposite opinions, but we seem to agree at least on one thing, the quality & flexibility.

C YA !

Yo Marcus,

if I would put a 5.0L v8 turbo charged in a chevette, I would like it to work still. Even if it would not be high tech, it could work!

The dealer is real arrogant (Germany, BI -you know who you are!). Creamware trusts him more than me (maybe 'cause he buys more cards?!). I can understand that. I do not like that.

Should I be blamed, because I did not expect my system had to be upgraded when I bought the LUNA and wanted it to work OK.

What about MIDI/Audio -compability. In my system (Intel BX440 chipset)LUNA had problems with Teratec EWS 64xl and Soundblaster PCI128 - or maybe they had problems with LUNA? Who is first?!
Creamware should not be proud for that.

Greetings from Grabie.

About the Chevette with that big engine, you would have to tweak it, modify it, put more money in than a brand new trans-am, so, this is what you're actually doing with your PC now. Do you really need three DIFFERENTS
audio cards for a DAW?

For the other issues, didn't i say hi-end cards need hi-end components? SB PCI128 isn't exactly 'hi-end'... And about Terratec ews64xl, isn't an ISA card? Wasn't not known for it's problems regarless of Luna?

And BTW, the BX440 is a really good motherboards, maybe a bit old, but still very usable.

Remove the low-end components a.k.a PCI128, and problematic one a.k.a ews, you'll see that every thing should work great. Try those cards one by one, each of them should also work great when alone, doing what they were designed for, PCI128 for playing Quake, EWS for recording, an Luna for mixing, recording, and be use as low latency i/o.

Even if i can build a chevette with a 5.0L turbo, I wouldn't drive it!

Well, anyway, anybody as a right for his own opinions, mine is now clear, I love my Luna, it do a great job for me, and i recommand it to anyone who need hi-end hi-performance i/o and has a clean, dedicated PC. As for MAC i have no idea...
