Logic 5.5.1 and BFD 2

Hi guys. I can't find anything on this (not even in the BFD 2 documentation) so I'm really hoping someone here can help.

I'm on WinXP running Scope, Logic Platinum version 5.5.1 and trying to run FXpansion's BFD 2 which I'm triggering through my VDrums. I can load BFD 2 as an audio instrument in Logic as normal and everything works perfectly... until I try to save the song that is. At this point Logic crashes and also corrupts the Logic song file.

A prolonged Google session turned up one related post where the writer stated that BFD 2 had not been tested with the PC version of Logic Audio and that the problem lay with Logic's inability to handle a certain plugin size (or something like anyway). Okay, my fault for still using an old version of Logic I suppose but does anyone have experience with this setup/problem? Is there a way to use BFD 2 without bringing it inside Logic Audio? I've tried loading BFD in standalone mode alongside Logic but it complains that no ASIO drivers are loaded, sounds awful (unplayable) and for some strange reason also slows the playback tempo in Logic. All help would be greatly appreciated!

Absolutely no idea, but i was until recently running VST 5.1 which is also very old. It didn't like BFD2 and a few other big plug ins i have. Sad to say i think you'll have to get another DAW if you want to use it. Those old packages just don't seem to like newer plugins.

i plumped for Reaper for the moment as i don't like Steinberg as a company and this option is super cheap. Worth trying for free at least.
