I originally posted this question in the Problem Solving forum, but since I discovered that it's related to XTC mode, I wanted to post it here also.

When I start Ableton Live, my MIDI ports aren't functional until I reset them by deselecting and reselecting them in the preferences screen. When I first enter the screen, the ports are orange. Once I click on each one twice, they turn black and are then usable. My theory is that it's a timing issue. Scope is starting after Live has already initialized the MIDI ports. I'd still like to know what is causing this and if it's possible to fix. I'm also curious if others have this issue in other sequencers.

This has happened in all the sequencers I have used XTC in.

Never had this problem with cubase SX, Cubase 4 and 5 !

the problem is explaind in the firstmesage.

It is a bug. It must be reported to Sonic Core so they can fix it.

No, I think it is how it is related to how the project files are loaded. I.e. the midi drivers are not loaded yet when the host looks.
