Speakers

Hi there,
Really researching loads now....gee it's time consuming.....
......anyhow.....I'm on to looking for a pair of speakers to add to the Yamaha MSP5's. MSP5 are flat response supposedly - Mightbe good to sort out a pair of hi-fi speakers to reference mixes (when it comes to that).
A bit of advice on what to look for might be best again - If it'sa set of hi-fi speakers then I'll need an amp of some sort - This whole idea of another set of speakers is to get an idea of what a song would sound like on an ordinary hi-fi??? - This is correct is it?? - So it wouldn't be too important to go overboard and get a fab-ish pair or would it???

your speakers are fine. test your mixes on different systems to learn your speaks.
there's not a lot of point in messing with different speakers without considering the room first. the room will play lots of dirty tricks on you...

Either you burn a cd and feed it into the cd player of your stereo to hear what will be heard by anyone buying your CD, or you have a mp3 player, connect it to your stereo and listen to the 'sound' of a 128bit mp3 via your speakers to get an impression what a download version sounds like.
Check also car stereo and frends places.
Anyway, maybe it would be better to use the Off Topic section...don't you think?

Thanks for your replies - I was thinking that too as an option and it certainly stops me messing about trying to find amp and speakers.............I can use the car/friends house/my portable radio/cd /mp3 - Yes, thats about it really. Will use OT area next time for non Scope natter............
