Bad noise on card inputs

I'm getting a lot of emf noise on the inputs on the cards, so much so that the signal is unusable for recording. Since I have a Luna I/O box I was thinking of getting the longest z-link cable and moving the box away from the computer. What is the longest length of cable supported?

Excessive noise or hum normally point to a grounding issue, so it could maybe be that or possibly a power supply problem. Is your computer grounded using only the ground connection in it's mains power supply? What sort of grounding connections does your studio have installed? Did you change anything recently that caused this problem to start?

Too close to hard disks maybe?

I have seen USB devices (like digital camera docking stations) generate noise fields that will penetrate nearby devices. Make sure there's nothing like that near the Luna box. I am running a +/-10 foot length cable from my A16 and it seems to work fine.

Grounding is ok and I'm getting a clean signal from the Luna I/O box. The interference seems to be coming from the PC HD or fans. I think I'll need to add shielding if I expect to be able to use the inputs on the card.
I haven't changed anything in this setup recently. I always use the Luna IO box for recording and never the inputs on the cards.
