For those of you who know/appreciate the electronic music band Tangerine Dream, I just went to a concert of theirs in Los Angeles...the first time they've performed in the U.S. since 1992 or something like that!! The music was wonderful of course. But the thing that interests all of us is that when the curtain went up, the first thing I saw was a big LCD screen on which were displayed Pro-12 and MiniMax ASB software!!!! I guess they've replaced the MiniMoogs of old that made TD so famous.

And on the other screen was the FM8.

Now if I can only get my hands on Xite...I'd have better equipment than Tangerine Dream.

I confess.....although I'm a fan until their Peter Baumann (included) era and lost them a bit afterwards.
Good news for SC though.
I have the DVD of the 1992 tour in the U.S. and I don't really like it, the cheesy saxophone and the absolutely "dozenal" electric guitar are unbearable.
Maybe with these "new" tools they will get back some of the lost visionary inspiration. Maybe Edgar Froese should just get rid of all the others, son included, and pick up someone of the real new generations.

I'm not in anonimity - I've always been a huge fan of their music - Rubycon is one of my favourite albums ever, by anyone.
I'll bet Paul R Martin will post a reply too, and Chris Werner and ...........

I went to the Montreal 1976 concert and I am sorry to say that I left during the 3rd piece. I just didn't get it back then. I do remember that the sound was great because they played in the Montreal Symphony Orchestra's hall (Salle Wilfird-Pelletier).

I am curious to find out if they went back to the Ricochet/Phaedra style for the present tour. I stopped listening after White Eagle, too "pop" sounding... Turned to Air Sculpture later because they brought back the older TD spirit.

Actually, Jerome Froese left TD a couple of years ago. The guy who replaced him, Thorsten Quaeschning (or something like that), seems to be bringing some of the old vibe back into the music (though it's kind of more like the early 80's Johannes Schmoelling period, not the Baumann years). Don't get me wrong, I've always loved Jerome's music, but it was kind of always Jerome's music and never really Tangerine Dream.

In the concert they played music from recent albums as well as new, redone-versions of the old stuff -- like Cloudburst Flight, The Dream is Always the Same, Tangram, etc. Again, nothing from the Baumann period, though. It was an awesome concert, though, and I loved it!
