Hi, I'm a rooooookie to the scope family, just bought this card (see pick).
I wonder, How do I get analog i/o on this card? Do I need an expansion card or just a breakout cable. Only breakout cable I've got is i/o/th midi (6 con), connection is to the right.

Thanx for helping me!
Best Regards
Jens

could I buy one of those?

If they work with power boost, they should work with the ohter aswell??
thanks again!

yes, or you can use any ad/da converter box that has ADAT lightpipe i/o. the A16 Ultra is one of the best buys for quality, the behringer ADA8000 is a great buy if you are on a budget. the ADA8000 is less expensive than the new i/o plate, and you get 8 mic pres, so i suggest that if you are on a budget....

oh neat!
The thing is that I allready got adat breakout boxes, but they are only input. And I don't need to stream more then a stereo pair out. basic music production. so I belive the expansion card will do it then. It's not very expensive.
Thanks for the tips!
best regards

sure, but just to save misunderstanding, the 24 adat i/o plate you have will be replaced by the new plate you purchase. the good thing is that the 24 adat plates are sometimes in demand, so maybe you could sell the old i/o plate.

i still think you should look at the ada8000. it's pretty useful for the same or less money(but then you wouldn't have an old plate to sell....)...

Alternatively, if you have a free PCI port in your PC, you can buy a used scope Home/luna board with its cables to get what you wish (stereo in/out) + 3 extra DSP and you would also have an extra MIDI I/O in case you miss one.
The stereo out is a 6.35 jack directly on the board (providing the stereo out).

yes, that would get you the second genration card benefits(you have a first generation card), mainly that you can get 3-4ms latencies with asio drivers.

I believe first generation cards don't have i/o plates and only one STDM port.. I presume it's a second generation card :)
yet, if you only need a stereo out pair, a second hand luna will be your best buy

you could also go and buy a used A16 for cheap.

then you have 16 ins and outs, and in this case your old plate will be more powerful.

If your need is limited to stereo I/O for the moment, go for a 2nd hand Luna/home, benefits are :
- get your needs satisfied with the STEREO I/O of the Luna board
- increase the DSP power from 3 extra DSP
- gain 1 MIDI I/O
- gain the latency improvement of 2nd gen cards
- keep the possibility of future I/O expansion with the ADAT port

PS: I do not have any of my Luna/home card for sale. It is just free advices ...

As far as I can tell he only needs a cable whip without the plate that will attach to the cards cable whip attachment.
It sort of looks like an old printer port, which He has.

E-mail S|C or ask around for only the cable whip.
And you are set. Midi I/O audio I/O spdif etc.

True,

But maybe it is easier/cheaper to buy a used Luna/scope home board (sold around 100 € without any special plug-ins) than to buy the câble !!!
And then, you get a little extra DSP power.

My 2 cents

YiannisK,
he has an old Scope SP card. there is no connection for the cable whip. the i/o plate he has is a 24adat plate(stock) which only has 3 adat lightpipe pairs. the other card is a syncplate.

the breakoutport (looks like an old parallellport) to the right in the picture is midi in/out/thru. I belive a new plate or extra card would be nice. the external boxes are nice, but expensive.. (except for behringer/samson ++ but the I dunnot like behringer preamps. it sounds so small..) I might just by a RME ADI-2 or an apogee mini-dac or something like that. Or just the creamware a16.
