Step Sequencer Ideas

I am quite lame w/ step sequencing, but have decades of experience on hardware sequencers.
I was hoping this scenario could work.
I use keyswitched sample libraries which means I can hit a lower note on an 88'r and have my trumpet section go from straight to swell, stacatto, shake, fall, or whatever articulation I need. I am hoping that these step sequencers could have a click out, and also be able to send out a note off and on command, but do it in a polyphonic way. That way I could have seperate horn sections doing the switching and keep both of my hands playing, using the sequencer to do the switching, since those keyswitches are notes on an 88 that have no sounds.
I have always needed a hardware sequencer for lights and the same trick I just mentioned, plus it changes your vocal FX live much more effciently than a sound man can.
Could I possibly use this a Scope sequencer and maybe sync it to pre recorded vocal tracks, etc.
I can handle all of the vocal effects by chains and a footswitch, so that's not the idea, but to do keyswitches and sync to VDAT somehow would be a dream. I have a simple metronome device for modular that works really well w/ VRC and VDAT.
This would be great because Mehdi's LBH and MiniSequencer seem to have many many options and steps. It's not a 16 or 32 step sequencer, but it rather advanced and seems like patterns are linkable which could do whole songs and such.
