SCOPE on separate PC?

I have started building a new PC DAW, and not everything is coming over to the new hardware. My SCOPE PCI cards won't fit, but I thought i might simply keep the old PC and use it to augment the new one.
My new machine is running SONAR 7 and using a Tascam FW-1082 (a control surface with MIDI, analogue and digital IO), and the old machine would run SFP on a Luna2 and XTC card. Since I mostly want the SCOPE synths, I though I'd go MIDI out from the FW-1082 into the LUNA2, then get the S/PDIF out of the LUNA back for mixing and monitoring in SONAR.
Does that make sense? Is there a better way to use the hardware? Any tips would be appreciated.
thanks.

that seems reasonable to me... You'll have to slave the scope rig to the 1082 though, so you may have to connect an spdif output from the tascam interface to your luna spdif in and set it as sync source. let us know if it works!

Thanks a lot for the quick feedback.
More than any concern about whether this will work okay, I'm concerned that I have dumbed it down too much. I'm essentially taking a very powerful DSP system and turning it into dedicated hardware synth. I know folks on this forum know the hardware inside-out, and I figured there were more clever ways of getting as much added value from the SFP platform as possible.

If your main machine doesn't have pci slots I don't see what are your options... When I upgraded I chose a mobo with 3 pci slots, that was an absolute condition. 2 separate machines are a viable option too, tho not as integrated as an all in 1, but the advantage is you have more processing headroom. the downside is that you only have a stereo out, so you have to make a submix in your scope environment. I think it's well worth it to put your dsps at work, with such awesome plugins...

Doing this aswell.Via adat 8 ch i/o , multiface 1.And just using scope synths via midi.Works like a champ.

I've used my Scope cards in a second system wired up to my main box via a Multiface 1 for several years now. I do also have a 3rd system (laptop), a decent external mixer (or 2) and some other hardware, but I must say that I actually *prefer* my Scope system as a sidecar. Instead of doing everything with it, I now use it where it's needed and I don't find it any less flexible.
The only caveat would be if you're working with many tracks that were all recorded live at the same time, processing only some of them through the 3rd system would require some manual compensation.

I use FX teleport over LAN with 4 slave computers to my main computer (Scope Machine) and my setup works like a charm!
If you go this route I would recommend you use gigabyte Ethernet with a gigabyte switch.

Actually, this is a viable option for combining XTC-mode and standard mode.
With REAPER i.e. you could use ReaStream, or even just ADAT (24bit) for interfacing. Perhaps even FXteleport.

If XTC is important to your workflow then I'd skip Scope in the 2nd pc. I have no need for it myself and have other methods of integrating external gear into my workflow (depending on whether I'm in Logic or etc).

does this teleport count as an asio delay? or is it like being native to the DAW?

I work since 3 years with 2 PC linked via LAN and ADAT.
I use both FXTeleport and ADAT communications in same time (plus midioverlan)
1 PC has XTC and the sequencer [host PC]
the second has SCOPE 4.5 and FXTeleport interface [synth PC]
I assure that this is the best solution to have both XTC and Scope enviroments together
the only absolut requirement is a GIGALAN net, with GIGALAN switch, to support the data transfers!!!

FXTeleport will need PDC just like XTC. No idea what exotic combinations will do, you'd probably have to resort to tests to see if there are still offsets due to small buffers somewhere.

I just switched from one machine for everything to having scope on its own machine. it is much happier now finally all my stupid MIDI sync problems are gone. i just dont think the scope MIDI driver can live with other USB midi drivers and editors etc etc very well.
today i left ableton (on the new machine) syncing to sb404 and my external synths and spectralis and they stayed in sync all the time.
before something would always go out after 10 minutes or less depending on what i was doing. and i couldnt even use sb404 at all.
