Clicking and popping... Cubase?

Hello everyone. I just bought a brand new motherboard ASUS CUL2-C with a p3 1000 mhz chip on. I run cubase 5.01r with pulsar 1 soundcard. And I have 2 128MB ram (2 different types... both 133)

Here comes the trouble. When I record wav files in cubase 5, clicks and pops appears on my wav file! ??? ...

I send my sound through a fostex VC-8, and via the ADAT inputs on my pulsar!... The strange thing about it is, that I used to run cubase 5 on a abit bh6 motherboard, and with a celeron 300A, clocked 400 or 450... Smothly... but now...!??? My luck has changed...

Please Help.!

BTW ... I have allready read all of the other topics about noise, but none of the solutions seem to work, so the question is still open!

just curious,what's the master /slave relationship re: pulsar/fostex? my machine likes to be a slave to ADAT2.i don't fight it.

Top three issues for clicks or pops:
1. Digital Sync (Master/Slave)
2. IRQ conflicts
3. ULLI settings too low for the number of channels

Make sure "Play Audio In Background" is checked in cubase, that you disable USB on a BX board and only use the on-motherboard usb connectors on the CUSL2 (& keep in mind the addon ones run through the PCI bus).

You probably have already done everything in the <a href=http://planetz.ghostwheel.com/phpBB/vie ... 1>Optimize guide</a>, screen savers, power management & memory resident programs (virus scanners) can cause that too.

Allright folks... Good news... It seems that I´ve fixed some of the problems. First I set samplerate to 48khz. That actually fixed the popping and clicking, but my computer was still unstabile. Then I called a good nerdfriend, and he told me that ASUS CUL2C´s PCI slot number 3... (count from the top, first AGP and the 1,2,3) Is the slot with least IRQ conflict and a lot of other nerdy stuff. Well... My pulsar now runs 44,1 without any pops and clicks!... BUT I havent had the oportunity to test in for more than one hour !!... so lets hope it stays that way.
