My only wish is xite will work with old cards. Otherwise im in a big problem with transfer keys + my existing card will become useless. If NOT then is it will possible to run both sfp 4.0 (pulsar 2) and 5.0 (xite) in same pc?
In this topic I’m concerning myself…. If anyone has the same felling plz join.
thanks

Hi firubbi,
it's not possible to have 2 Scope installs running simultaneously in one PC, just the same as I can't run Scope & the sdk simultaneously, so for that reason I don't think it's likely that we'll be able to run XITE-1 in the same PC & at the same time as an existing Scope install. That's just a guess, but I just don't see how it could possibly work unless you're using them in separate systems connected via adat etc. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here.

Yes I wondered about this also. Having 2 systems might be cool as well thought

Scope 5 running on existing cards & a Scope XITE-1 install running simultaneously on the same machine? I can't see it happening. The Noah runs fine alongside Scope, but that's a different story. Noah isn't Scope.

Surely if you have an old card and xite you boot up Scope v5 and it will recognize both cards and add the DSPs together.
If plugins have been bought for the old Scope card maybe they can only be loaded on free DSPs on the old card, but not on xite unless you have another licence key for the plug for the new hardware. i.e I have Solaris - I boot up Scope v5 - it recognises both xcite and old scope - adds the dsps togther - but the Solaris won't load on xcite unless JB provides an EXTRA licence key ( poss. at a small cost ).
To have 2 scope windows open at the same time - one for old scope and one for xcite seems to be confusing and pointless - surely it's better everything is done from the one interface?
I am a bit confused regading this situation of mixing old scope and xcite regarding plug-ins.

I don't understand where the confusion comes from when you consider that we can't currently run 2x Scope in a single PC. No idea how plugin licensing will be handled, but it'll probably be a total nightmare for Ralf at least.

I don't think that's what will happen (IE I doubt it), but please correct me if that's wrong.

I think I was told on Messe, that you can transfer existing Scope licenses to the new xite-1 hardware.

thats what i/we want...boot scopev5 and both xite+old cards go together.
if not ... we all will need another pc for xite than connect via adat etc ...
better put this option will help ralf... or he will go mad transferring keys

Ralf definitly denied this, you can't run both together. Even the program code of 5.0 will be different for both worlds, the old cards and XITE-1, though providing same look and features.

Right. They even think about a hardware upgrade policy (eg giving back your cards and get XITE-1 for less), but no promises so far. This is a question for marketing-calculation and we shouldn't be upset, if such an offer will not come.
Regarding the transfers: Maybe Ralf should use some kind of a batch file converter to do this automatically. I think for sure he has this issue allready in mind. Otherwise we have so send him some survival/care packages with lot of coffee and so on

very good thinking. many user have 20 to 45 dsp.......

So I get the impression xcite and the old scope cards are incompatible. Either we keep the old card or get rid of it and go to xcite.
If we get xcite - flog the old card on ebay (for peanuts prob.)
Backward compatible? Not really - all you can do is load your old projects from Scope to Xcite!
If they don't work together - well it's stay put or get rid of the card!

I don't think there is a law that says you can't run more than one machine in your house, folks. I'm currently trying to transition off of the Windows side and to get to a pure MacBook Pro setup. So if Xite-1 gives me a path to a Mac solution, trust me... I ain't lookin' back.

The DSP summing point is an interesting one. I wasn't sure if that was the case or not. Can anyone elaborate on that?

i guess the license thing is more important, I mean if you have the power of 140 dsps why would you need to cascade it with another 14 or 20 dsps.
its enough already...

Yeah, but on the "summing" idea.
Is it the case that *EVERY DEVICE* will have to be *MANUALLY ASSIGNED* to a DSP as you create your project?
I always thought the concept of "SLOTS" in the NOAH was a bit odd and sounded difficult to work with. So I'm wondering if that is the case with the Xite-1.
???

@Stardust
exactly

I could consider an Xite if I could use my card's In/Out.
even more if I could choose between a 'power version' and an all rounder of any kind...
I never counted on the possibility of combining cards and Xite tho, and it doesn't make sense so much indeed
if I look at the spirit at SC as reported from the F. Messe, then it's my guess we will be able to transfer all plugs to Xite, but the licences on the cards will have to be destroyed.
you'd sell only standard cards this way.
Ralf would really need to automate this proces hehe, but the transfer option wouldn't harm bussiness I'd say
