Do not use VDAT in 16 bit mode!

Do not use VDAT in 16 bit mode, unless you are recording everything in one go. It adds a 1000+ sample delay when recording in 16 bit. Your timing will suffer greatly, if you are overdubbing.

my timing (playing instruments) sux anyway

yet I don't think it's related to the bitdepth - it's probably one of the (possibly default) controller settings related to pre-roll and such stuff.
I've not yet finished my Adat studies... so it's just a suspect.
Anyway it's good you mention it - in fact I never overdub, I just record and edit in another app, but indeed 16 bit.
cheers, Tom

To test it, make a loop. You have a sound (any sound) on track 1 in the ADAT. Record that back to into the ADAT at different bit depths. You may loop it out through the analog out and in or use Wolf's device for it (I tested it with an analog loop). Open the files in your audio editor and see for yourself.

It's possible to delay the tapes is it not?
If you hook up the VRC-128 to it, you should be able to set some parameters.
It only happens in 16bit?

Yes, it only happens in 16 bit. As far as I remember it, the delay was something like 70 samples including A/D and D/A conversions when working at 24 or 32 bit.
