In search of new Sequencer

Some time ago I was using Cool Edit Pro as audio recorder, but when I entered the midi world and Pulsar stuff with sample accurate ASIO-drivers and the like, people said that Cool Edit is inferior for multi-tracking compared to decent asio-based recorders.
Now, after many years, I found that Cool Edit , now known as Adobe Audition, supports ASIO, MIDI and all. So, have you, fellow-Scopers tried it? Is it any good? At least it doesn't cost half the price of Cubase.
And speaking of Cubase, another option I've been thinking is Cubase Studio. And also, as I'm about to buy some Yamaha gear, do you have anything to say about Cubase AI? I've read all the info from Steinberg's site, but it isn't that much. Would AI4 be enough?
