Is anyone using the modular connections in Wolf's mixer?

I would like to hear of some ideas, or examples of it's usefullness.

I assume it can be used as a great way to treat vocals and and control synths?

I would love to learn some of these tricks.

Thanks,

s4l,

I am limiting my Wolfie's Mixer Mod usage to baby steps as I am a mod infant. I have used the Mod insert with the Flexor saturation modules, on gits mainly, to good effect. The Flex sat modlules have various pleasing flavours. However, the arrival of the FAT pack is another great option now available for battle. I am awash with fun stuff.

I am also fiddling feverishly with the Wolfie Kompressor at present. Mein Gott!! This thing has some great features.

I am still in the womb w/ Modular don't feel bad. :P

I was thinking of LFO swept vocals w/ lush flanges, phasers, and delays.

Our little singer Kelly is so cool as she is all for experimental music. I was telling her that whatever she dreamed in her head, I could do in Scope. Yeah, me and my big mouth.

She actually dreams, as do I, and asked me if she could paint her vocals as in a brush stroke, that would sweep in and out, reverse reverbs, etc. She is definately the kind of singer I wished I would have met years ago. Looks, Ideas, Talent, Personality. Incredible control of her voice.

With the MIDI solutions FP8 a singer could attach various pedals and add or change effects on the fly. A great idea I thought.

I opened for Fionna Apples band in NYC, NJ, and Philly back in '99. While we were playing metal w/ synths, they were tripping out. They were using a ProTools rig for backing tracks, but they had such cool weird little vocals and lo-fi stuff coming in and out of the mix.

Thanks for the reply, and let me know if you get any workable ideas using modular w/ the mixer.

s4l,

Re:Yer Vox Fantasies.

I have considered the various options within Scope for having this sort of freaky dynamic stuff on vox and wotnot.

Wolfie's Miditoolbox has various Audio2Whatever things that can be used to generate controllers and stuff. I guess one could have delay or reverb parameters, aux sends, anything, changing along with the vocal track being fed into, for example, Audio2Control.

However, I have yet to try this out in any shape, form or fashion. So it might be pie in skysville.

Anyone use Audio2Control for anything exciting? :-?

PS "With the MIDI solutions FP8 a singer could attach various pedals and add or change effects on the fly. A great idea I thought." Indeed. Or give her a wireless fader and she can keep dancin' on two feet. Or one foot with a pedal. Or two pedals and she'll look like she's on the step machine at the gym. Before you know it she'll be doing the funky lipstand.

PPS I guess one could get quite funky with Audio2Control to generate a single controller stream and then into MultiControl which would generate up to 8 configurable controller streams of whatever you fancy to wherever you want. Linear, log, invert. Only a guess tho.

"3.1 MultiControl

MultiControl lets you control up to eight knobs of every midi controlable device in scope with just one knob. This way you can e.g. connect the cutoff and resonance of two different synths and let the cutoff raise, while the resonance drops on one synth and the cutoff of the other synth drops, while the cutoff raises. This opens a new world of sound manipulation.

Supplied are two “main” knobs, of course assignable to a controller as well, with the possibility to route them to different targets.
MultiControl2 lets pass other midi events through, so you don’t need a separate midi merger."

I am investigating many new ideas.

I could do all of these tricks very easily w/ the hardware sequencer, but she wishes to change w/o having to be glued to a certain format.

Of course this makes me work much harder, but I love her attitude.

I have never met a person who thinks exactly the same way I do, especially when it comes to female vocalist /actress /model /dancer types. She rules !!
