Sampler pedal simulation - any ideas?

Hi all
I put this in Tips but wrong place.
Hope this place is OK!!! :D

I am after a simulation of a Boss type delay/sampler pedal, the one that you put the signal (usually a guitar) through, then you can press the foot pedal to start, and then stop and loop, the sample of the signal.

I can't figure out how to do this in STS and that is so big for such a simple thing. Can be mono or stereo.

This would have a mouse click to do the 'start'; 'stop and loop' functions, or midi from a keyboard.

Any ideas anyone?
Thanks

imho it's almost certainly what Ableton live does...
normally you need a Midi footcontroller to transmit the controls, but the program can probably be setup do use keys instead.

for guitar and bass there's only the footcontroller... and since these are quite expensive, I took a deep breath and shelled out the cash for Boss RC50 (a 3 track looper) instead :D
with the RC50 at your feet everyday is xmas day, non-stop blinking diodes - and I really mean 'non-stop' :o enthusiastically invited you to tap dancing...

it's stunning that it takes just about an afternoon to figure out the hidden meaning of the light signals - when you start up this thingy the first time you cannot but shake your head and mutter 'impossible...'

cheers, Tom

I had the RC50 for a while but returned it back....didn't you find it has a too long latency in triggering the loop start? I wasn't able to have a decent and tight performance with it..

I have tried pedals, I have Live, this is for a Scope device that does the same thing, in Scope.

I imagine it might even look like a pedal! or could be a modular device, since some of them do sample playback.

The idea is that each one (say 4 instances) would have its own timings and playback loop going on.

As if there were 4 actual pedals doing the looping (yes I have thought of buying 4 Behringer delays that loop!).

Live will involve a set bpm, or fiddling with the envelopes on the bottom waveform panel etc.

you probably refer to a bug in firmware 1.00, where the beginning of the first playback of the recorded loop was muted (but only for this very forst run).
The timing was said to be precise, but many users complained about this, as it's very irritating. In software 1.01 there's an optional patch but only if the internal rythmguide isn't engaged.

to be honest, my timing is probably worse than sluggish... and in fact I see this thing (for my humble use) as an excercise tool to improve it.
You have to be damn precise and extremely focussed to get the first loop right.

actually I found it pretty boring to constantly play to drum loops, the Real Book via Band-in-a-Box is a bit too much discipline and to play in a real band is a problem by schedule usually...
So I've passed that on to the Looper. I can load it with guide tracks (intro, refrain, etc) to play along.
Or I can record bass to a drumtrack, add guitar and the digital horn, even make a horn section...
it's pretty versatile as you can overdub with adding or replacing, undo-redo, or erase a part that you played better on another track.

I only had it for a couple of days, as the display failed... but I already miss it :(
this is so much more convenient than the PC with mouse drag here and menu there etc :P
the quality is not exactly VDAT, but it's not too bad either

cheers, Tom

mobius should be a fairly good emulation of the famous echoplex http://www.zonemobius.com/
loopers-delight is the site to visit if you're a live looper. a link to their list of loop devices http://www.loopers-delight.com/LDarchiv ... 00420.html
