Hi All !

I recently installed a Scope Pro (15DSP) as a third card, next to 2 Pulsar2s (2x6DSP).

I'm getting a bit worried about whether my power supply is adequate, especially since I will be adding a second internal HD soon ?

The current Power Supply is good for 320W or so.

The rest of the setup, relevant to power consumption :

* AMD CPU, I think it's an XP 3200
* 1 (but soon 2) internal HDs
* 2 DVD writers
* KeyStation 88Pro which gets its power from USB (apparently the external power supply should only be used if connected over MIDI )

Is this going to get me in trouble ?

I'm also interested in cooling solutions - I only have the CPU fan, is there any really easy way to get some extra cooling (and won't that stress my power supply even further) ?

I was thinking, maybe there's some kind of small fan I can put at the bottom of the case ? Or will that only blow the air around inside the case without actually providing real cooling ?

how does it run?

a poor quality supply of 320watts is probably best replaced. a high quality 320watt supply is problably ok. the same for cooling. if the components are not overly warm, there's not a problem.

It is supposed to be a high-quality, low-noise power supply.

A friend of mine hand-picked the components, and he was very well informed... He's a sound engineer, and he knew all about the requirements for PCs when it comes to making music.

So I'll stick with it for now. Are there any things that I can monitor ? I have the Asus Prob utility, which also shows voltage fluctuations and stuff. However, I have no clue on how to interpret it - i.e. what is good, what is bad

if 5vlt is 5vt, 12vlt is 12vlt and nothing's overheating, you're good. if you were running out of juice, you'd likely see some symptoms...

rx, try a program like everest to monitor mobo and cpu temperature etc.

i remember i had one time an overheating problem
because of the closed chassis.
the result were for example
after 30 min i had in the mixer all inputs on all channel
crickle, stops and really nasty sound

Sounds good, but I think the Asus Prob utility I have (which matches nicely with my Asus mobo ) does already a good job of monitoring Fan speed, Temperatures and Voltages. My problem was more how to interpret the voltage graph - what kind of fluctuations are acceptable, and what kind should set the alarm bells ringing.

The Scope manuals do not include power requirements do they ? Or did I read over that ?

12W for the Project, 15W for the Professional and 6W for the Luna/Home (in my manual)
