Mac OSX ?

Hey guys,

I find it hard to find any info related to Macintosh OS X.
Are there drivers for this OS?
Last time I checked there were none. But that was three years ago.
I'm in this project now, where they want to spend 1500 Euro on a sampler alone. So I was thinking: "Why not buy a scope card for that money".
Unfortunately it has to be installed in a Mac with OS X.
Does anyone know more? I couldn't search in this forum because it is in debug mode and gives lot's of numbers as search result..

Thanks!

Greatings,

Casper

I run Scope on a G4/OS9, connected to a faster G4/OSX through Midi and ADAT (RME card in the last one).
It's a shame tho that this unique Scope platform doesn't support OSX (yet).
Thanks to the NOAH adventure...

yes, if you are a mac user, and considering that a scope system is a kind of hardware "war machine" (because of "0" latency) many use 2 (or more) computers. One of my friends has a big G5 (with Logic) linked to 2 other computers (one PC+soniccore and another MAc). Otherwise, you just have to .... wait :) ...

what a rubbish - there isn't even a current Apple machine you could plug the boards in - so what the fuck for should someone waste time writing bla bla bla bla

Tom, annoyed

annoyed Tom,

I have installed and used Scope on my Macbook Pro using a PCMCIA Magma chasis and XP. It's portable. It works the same as a windows laptop does (MV test).

There are ExpressCard interfaces for the magma which should double the PCI bandwith, so it could become as good as my desktop, but on the Macbook. There are also PCI-express interfaces that can fit a MacPro and could give a good bandwidth for Scope...

Of course, in none of these examples you can actually plug the boards into the machine, and you're probably spending more than you would on a dedicated computer, and maybe lose performance, etc., but the point is you can use scope on a modern day mac, and you could do more with proper OSX drivers, I think...

I, for one, would really appreciate OSX drivers.

Don't be annoyed! :)

Much peace,

T

hehe :-) or Apple's ones :-D
I confess I didn't realize (also) a Magma box needs (OSX) drivers

according to

http://www.magma.com/support/drivers/

http://www.magma.com/support/drivers/ca ... index.html

and

http://www.magma.com/support/drivers/ex ... index.html

there is no driver needed for Mac OS X.

The problem isn't with the magma. OSX drivers aren't needed. They are needed for Scope - the only reason why I have XP and OSX installed on the laptop.

Anyway, this has been discussed many many times... people who don't feel the need for new drivers are already catered for... and there are already many threads on this, and on the need for Vista drvers, which will have to come inevitably.

I only posted because it is possible to use scope on a new mac, even though it might not be the best way to go about it... Still some people do it, others would like to, and so it's important to have all information available.

I also find it amazing that I could load Scope on my MacBook Pro, but not on a brand new HP laptop. Why? Vista.

I'd like it if soniccore delivered OSX, Vista and Linux drivers. It's not my problem if this would delay the release of new cards, as these I already have are good enough for what I do. If they don't deliver, it's OK, as I'll just keep on using XP. But I'm not giving up on Scope!

Much peace,

T

I can't see Linux drivers being a possibility (excuse me if I'm wrong). Closed platforms don't go down well in Linux Land.

Oh & excuse me about OSX drivers! I forgot altogether that apple had screwed up so badly with slot technology decisions!

yes, it's true.

vista is the only "must".
