I heard a VDAT recording of my group live a few years back and was shocked at it's finished product. The A16 was used, and took 8 direct, and 8 different sub mixes. There were even 3 mics placed on the far side of the monitor line for audience ambience. It was pretty brilliant the way the guy recorded us, but I am clueless on how to use VDAT.

What I wish to do is record a rehersal of my psychedlic group for a demo.

I also wish to record just a few tunes I compose w/ Giga and Scope.

I remember reading about Wolf's feedback, and session notes device, so I downloaded them, but I don't understand it's use.

Could someone elaborate on why it is necessary.

I am going to start experimenting with this, but I need a good demo before the end of October.

I hope you guys don't mind me bothering you with questions.

I will start by recording my new stuff first into my hardware sequencer till I get comfortable, then use it to trigger all of the SFP synths, and Gigasamples. That won't take long at all. But my overdubs with the Oberheim EDP, and hardware reverbs will probably be where I get stuck.

Any tips on this module from Wolf would be appreciated.

well, normally you do not need it (the feedback thingy) ... unless you want to record (for example) a submix of VDAT output 1-6 on VDAT input 7-8

Your help in the last 26 months has always been spot on, and quite helpful.

That's good to know. I would like to do just that with Larry Seyers Acoustic Drums. They already have the initial ambiences on each drum, so I could get each track sounding good, then put the kit on 7 & 8. There is actually an overhead mic model mix that sounds quite good. So I could listen to all of the tracks at once, mute or attenuate till I am happy, and even bring in the Lexicon to finish the kit sound.


BTW, Me and SFL Jr. watched the 300, and Gladiator back to back. He loves the Strength And Honor stuff.
