Just thought I'd share some information, which I deem relevant in regards to customer service.

The website where I demo'd, then purchased Bidule only had an email contact www.seb@plogue.com . So I described my little problem w/ using GVI, and an application which uses the GVI engine. Actually 2, Wavelore American Zither, and Sonivox Muse. I can load a dozen instances of GVI w/ GB sized libraries on each channel, which is amazing by itself, but can't use the other apps simultaneously, but separately only. Great for the studio, but live guys need it all, as we don't get to do multiple takes. And cannot load while we jam.

@ any rate, this is an example of a good small company with a great product. Within 12 hours I received 2 emails w/ suggestions to try, and he is contacting Tascam as we speak. What more can one ask for. Only here, have I ever seen that kind of quality customer service. Bowen, SpaceF, Adern, Wolf, Sharc, Shroomz, Celmo, and now Plogue.

I will try Steinberg now. I bet that will take weeks for a generic reply like " Are you sure you have the MIDI cable plugged in? "

Every app I use has a great customer service rapport w/ the exception of the Yamaha Cubase 4.

Maybe I should get EnergyXT after all. I bet it will let me do several MIDI tracks before freezing up like Cubase.

BTW, Wavelore's American Zither is phenomenal !! The price is a scary 60 USD ??? He is also from Canada. I have had the best business / friendship relations in the last year from my northern brotha's.

I thought all they could do is play hockey, and skate. Boy was I ever wrong.

nice one. It seems that it's usually the smaller companies that have the best customer service and the most personal interaction with the actual people who develop the product.
I've never had to deal with Steinbergs service but I do frequent their forum and it's just so sad to see that there's simply no interaction at all from Steinbergs part (except for a couple of moderators who don't really have anything to say over development). I don't have good experiences with Native Instruments either. Although their techsupport is pretty good, I'm pretty dissapointed with the buggyness and workslow of Battery 3 for instance, even over 9 month after it's release.

For the record, a new GVI version is on the way very soon to fix your problem. How soon? Soon as it's ready.

you know, I keep wondering since you mention the zither plugin so much... what the heck do you use a zither sound for?

Anyway, I've been eying energyXT, let me know what you think if you give it a test run.

The Zither is just an old Bluegrass instrument that started in Germanic Folk music, and was brought to the USA by immigrants. The Hillbillies use it rather well in Country music also, like June Carter ( Johnny Cash's wife R.I.P. ).

My Great Grandmother played the lap styled Zither, and sang O' Tannenbaum to us as children at Christmas time. Her ( Dodo ), and my grandmother were also great pianists at ragtime, which BTW was invented in my place of birth by Scott Joplin, and played by members of my family when I was growing up. Which explains why I love music so much. I honestly believe my grandmother had a stash of Meth-Amphetamines, for she could play for hours and hours as we sang and slept, and she would still be playing when we woke up. Then she would play at our Lutheran church, come home and do it again.

The Wavelore American Zither is the most incredibly well done instrument, with all of it's features, and performance styles. It goes for a ridiculously cheap price of 60 USD !!! I have paid hunderds for libraries which can't begin to compare to this guys talent as a developer for Giga and GVI.

It sounds great for World / Ethnic / Bluegrass / Country, etc. etc.

He is going to bring us the first pedal steel ever for Gigastudio, and I know I will be using that w/ a rotary cabinet, and the Oberheim EDP in reverse !!

Synthetic 88, You were fast I know, Thanks. I am anxious to see the fix, as I need to load up Bidule with many new toys for this coming season. Next time you are in town I will be here, instead of Atlantic City. It's rare that i leave town, but the money was good. Thanks God, cause the women were scarce, and the sheep were nervous.

lately ive been using bidule alot - a lovely, stable app. works great w/ scope...for those wondering about energyxt - its worht checking out the ext forums (http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=36 )...there are some anoying shortcomings in the newest version, which will no doubt be ironed out in future betas, but at the moment i think the older version (1.4 i think) is a more complete application. you cant go wrong for the price thouhg,

I really like the absolutely " 0 " clutter in it's surface.

Players always want to see your LCD to see what you're using, and it's nice to know under the boring look of Bidule hides the powerful apps like GVI, Muse, Scope, etc.

Bidule and EnergyXT are great, but for live you cant beat Brainspawn Forte. Nothing comes close. Scene based, and with Dirks aux sends and faders I've been doing all kinds of routing.

Played many gigs with it. Solid as a rock....and you can program cheat sheets per scene hehehe

I'm interested as to why you settled on the others, surely you've tried it?

Must admit I've not tried Brainspawn Forte, I like Bidule because it's modular and cross platform, and I've seen it grow from when it was first released - as Jimmy says the Plogue guys are top notch. EnergyXT is very useful when you still use Logic 5.51 - for a few plugins that won't play nice in Logic.

The Plogue team do provide excellent service. They even made me a custom version within just a couple of days for some specific needs I had at the time.
