Scrubbing with VDAT

The manuals say that it is possible to do scrubbing with VDAT if you press fast forward while you're playing. When I try this it just does a normal fast forward (I don't hear the sound). It also doesn't work if I use Scrub Fw button in VRC. Is there some other way to make this work?

I've never got the audio scrub facility to work either :(
