Lexicon w/ Analog Devices = M7

I have seen and heard the Lexicon 480L for years in ShoCo, and Gamble FOH set-ups, and it's pretty much several PCM91's, 8 to be exact. Since it is hardware, it's track for stability is second to none. I have always wanted one but they never show up used, and when they do they are still extremely overpriced. But if I was rich, it would be my choice w/ SFP mixers.

But I have researched this new unit and can't find a demo, but have discovered that the designer of the 480L / 960L w/ LARC series left Lexicon to roll his own, and was quite happy to hear it uses the Analog Devices DSP chips like our beloved Scope uses. I have heard some really decent DSP reverbs and warp 69 seems to be praised as a God Amongst Men for his work w/ reverbs. So could this be the hardware reverb to lust 4?

Scope Plus cards could utilise the AES / EBU I / O's like the PCM 91's, and TC series.

It's nice to see Analog Device DSP's being used on everything fierce.

I`m following this unit since a while.

for some soundemos check this thread

I seems to be no lex killer ( how could you top it?) but playing in the same league.

So it must be top-notch.

WowThanks Brogham,
It would be hard to kill a 70,80,90,91,480, or 960 but that 30 second decay is very impressive.

I am fascinated by the power of DSP's.

At the end of the day it's all algorithms.

If you ever want a very close version of the PCM91, the MPX1 does a good job.

The MPX 500, 550, 200, and 100's are obviously using the HK Digitech chips, as they sound so.......Digitechish. Even though they say it's a Lexichip, since they bought the rights to Lexicon.

I've been following this product for two years. Good to see that it's finally nearing completion. I listened to it at AES this year and it sounded amazing through headphones. It was like each speaker in the headphones were 25 feet away, the sound was so spacious.

It must be worth the money, thats for sure,

not exactly the home user price range?

at the end I am still a bit critical, most people just heard it a short time.
