I am sharing this in hopes that any Giga / Scope guys take advantage of this incredible application w/ an extraordinarily ridiculous price.
This app loads w/ exceptional speed, and loads double the amount of content due to it's new code. Which I assume means they have taken advantage of the SSE4 instruction set and optimized it very well.
There are performance features like iMIDI, and the mono portamento is to die for if the developers apply it correctly. I can do the most incredible fiddle solos w/ the new GigaViolin.
I use 2 instances of it to pull off that old trick of two slightly detuned instruments that sound so rich and full when played simultaneously. You can do this in Scope also. Just load 2 x instances of C4T or ProOne. Set the pitchbend amount to +1 / -1 on Instrument #1, then add a +2 / -2 on Instrument #2. Do slight pitch bends w/ the PB Wheel or do them really fast w/ larger amounts. If you are using GigaViolin the HillBilly's will flock out of the woodwork !!
I cannot wait to do some gigs this summer.
When my pedal steel library is completed I will be in as happy as a pig in shit !!
I plan on getting that unheard ,forgotten sound that Poco used in the seventies of a pedal steel going through a Leslie. I do it now, but I use a clean strat sample and have little control over the pitch unless I use Huskers Kurzweil Expressionmate Ribbon controller. Wavelore's Pedal Steel will cure this I am sure.
So if any of my brethren here have GS3, please break into the vault and get the 75 USD 4 this awesome performer. It is truly a sore dick deal, that cannot be beaten.

hello, Scope4live
I have GS3,
Do you use GVI exclusively now and never run GS3?
If you were to install GVI on same computer with GS3 could you still use GS3?
can you run both at the same time ?(stupid question but curious)
How does it handle loads compared to GS3?
I heard that GVI you nead a doggle for it and you are limitted to only one instance per computer, is this correct?
I think that GVI only has 16 channels? unlike the GS3?
Could you please inform me ?
Thanks
Johannis

GS3 is soon to be upgraded to 64 bit, and the new code which takes advantage of multi core CPU's, as in GVI.
GVI loads way more content, and personally I like it way better than GS3 live, but this is a whole new engine. I would keep both apps on the same DAW, till you decide if a dual DAW would be economically viable 4 U. GS3 will not be able to take GVI's new developements much longer, unless they are made to be used in both apps. i.e. the GVI engine.
GVI is loaded w/ new tools 4 us live guys. They lack the MIDI custom devices we have in Scope, and even the standard MIDI tricks like switching off and on effects bypass buttons and stuff like that, they have never been implemented. But GVI developers are making great gains in performance features as well. Gigaviolin is incredible.
Buy GVI for 75 USD, and then go buy the Wavelore American Zither for 80 USD, and you will shit your pants when you see the kind of keyswitches availavble, and portamento tricks, DEF, and iMIDI. I can't believe the amount of new developement we are getting now also.
We have pursuaded a new member here who is a Tascam that could give you some serious insights on the new future and developement as well. Watch for synthetic88's posts, as he is a fierce warrior. His demos and help w/ giga related proucts might help us get some new drivers from Sonicore, maybe.
I feel that Scope / Giga were a marriage made in heaven, and will stake my honor on their stability for live performance.
Check Out
www.learngigastudio.com There are excellent DVD's for cross applications, and GS3 as well as GVI.
GVI is the best 75 bucks I ever spent, other than the 100 bill that got me an 8800 USD jackpot back in 'the early '90's. Just the jackpot amount was great to see also as I play the 88's, it was most appropriate indeed.

Buy Giga 3, then pay 75 USD for the upgrade to have both. Thay are a pain to set up at first, but once Scope and Giga run together, that's all she wrote.
Enjoy,

I was wondering about these two question.
can you clear this up for me scope4live?
Nevertheless I think 75 bucks is nothing for the GVI update.
looks like I have to go for it.
Thanks

Gigastudio 3's 128 MIDI channels are pretty extreme, great for Foley artists 4 sure, however, GVI will load up 16 instances on a fast CPU. Each one should have it's own seperate MIDI channel IMHO. Then you can play the dozens of keyswitched instruments, i.e. let's say you have 12 keyswitches per instrument,, each one is a different sample of course, of the same instrument, doing different performance tricks, such as pizz, sfz, ppp, trills, bends, gliss, etc. It's a live players dream come true. Then channel two has your Zither, 3 your dudk, etc.
What I really like is that certain developers have recorded licks which I use to think was jive cheeze, bull shit. Play it yourself. But,...These guys recorded certain stylings that could in no way be reproduced on a keyboard. So it only enhances your sounds, as well as learning. I for one never heard a Duduk before, and can hardly play w/o it now. And yes, I shall not lie, I even use the developers licks when nescessary, and mix mine with them. It makes me sound like I'm in another century, and people really like to hear these studio quality instruments live, as I have had many older folks late 50's and 60's commenting on how nice it was to hear something fresh. So that alone motivates me. When those picky old Bastards even aknowledge your existence, you've done your deeds.
By all means if you love great samples buy GS3, GVI, Kontackt, Kompact, etc. They are all great apps, but Giga is super stable w/ Scope and Intel, and GVI is the icing on the cake.
