Have you checked for the presence of any spyware? Are there any processes taking up much CPU bandwidth?

Another thought; how much space do you have on the partition where the Windows swapfile lives?
Has anything changed recently with your system? (Hardware or Software)

When the HD is nearly full, the system gets significantly slower.

Evrything looks good, the 850 w/ RDRAM was the king back then.
I agree with Herr Voight. Just open up your vault, I know it's hard, and grab 100 USD or the equivalent thereof, and get you a fast HDD. Raptors are the best for certain apps. but any large 7200k rpm SATA's will work fine.
You have all the right hardware, so I agree w/ Herr Voight. Besides I never saw any sticks of RDRAM that were slow, ever.
Does Scope like the 850 chipset. I believe you are the only I have seen that is using it.

i used to run the 850. it's great like almost all the intel chipsets in that it works as it should. he'd want a pata drive though. no big deal, 7200rpm 8mb buffer ide wds are available everywhere, still.

I don't think it's the hard drive unless it is full like he said but it can't hurt to run chkdsk. I would check the cables and make sure they are tight. Remove all cards and place them in firmly and if that fails, format the hard drive(s) and do a clean install. A lot of times drives that seem to be failing work like new after formating for years longer. I wonder how many good ones are thrown away.

Agreed,
But it's always good to have one extra 4 a rainy day. How much does it rain in Bangladesh ?

It depends of the season, I think.

Thank all for sharing your experience

after running check disk - defragmenters---disk cleanup and delete unnecessary data, things are getting a bit better but not like before. i guess its about time to get a faster pc. core2 kind'a machine with a faster sata.
thanks again.

sometimes clean format of C drive bring new life and speed to the PC.
I find that formating my C drive every 6 -8 months is becoming a must after noticing that my system starts to become slow .

If you host connectted to the Internet than Install an antivirus software and check your disks on worms and viruses.
If not than reinstall main software and drivers.
If this not helps than reinstall OS in repair mode, and install all OSes service packs and install all latest drivers .
All problems is due corrupted (or bad) drivers or worms/viruses if your partions isnot full (including that ones with pagefile and OS itself)
If you want good defragmenting try to use Raxco software. In this case you can defragment also metadata and page file (not possible with embedded defragmenter) which is essential for performance.

I tried Ali's suggestion on my internet DAW after coping all programs, and it works much faster, and that DAW uses a Western Digital PATA HDD.
My virus, which is extortionware actually has also dissapeared.
Thanks 4 the tip.

You don't have to defrag the pagefile. You can delete it and defrag and then create a new one. Disable it if needed in My Computer/properties.
