Running Stereo Outs Into 2 x Mono Ins

Can anyone explain why the stereo outs sent to 2 x mono ins sounds better than the conventional stereo to stereo does.
I am experimenting w/ a Valve circuit demo that came as a mono device, so I ran Solaris's outs into 2 of these and then hard panned them L to R. Damn that sounds good. I assumed it was the circuit, so I disconnected the Valve demos and did the same. The synth sounds so much more alive, that I am going to experiment a lttle more.
Is there some funky digital explanation 4 this?

most probably there is a volume difference.
even a half db can fool you, as louder is better...
it depends of the mono-stereo settings of the stereo handling, was it -3 or -6 db?
anyway, I would look into that context

On Solaris, JB developed a very awesome panning solution where you can use envelopes, LFO's as mod sources. That is what made the synth sound so much better to my ears. The panning scheme was never that prevalant before. Whatever the reason, I am running Solaris / ProWave into 2 x hard panned monos from now on. And tweaking the pan / mod unit, you can run four of these @ once. I start my gig Tuesday, and doubt I will ever have this kind of time again. I have surely learned a shit load of tricks in the last month I have had off.
Any Solaris Owners Ever Tried This,

there's also a possibility of phase delay between mono left and mono right, which can actually sound very rich...

I think you nailed it . I noticed slight volume and phase on my samples, I don't like it there, but the synths sound bigger.

Also, if the circuitry is somewhat linked in the stereo module, L can influence R and vice versa.
At least this is the case with MovEQ I discovered.

at least there is a real
reason for real stereo design...
