Six-String Covering Guitar Parts Well

I will start my new gig on the 20th. It is a really good Progressive Rock cover band. We are doing Yes, Pink Floyd, ELP, Styx, etc.

The guitarist is talented, but lazy. He has no acoustic guitars, and claims he is prepared and shows up needing help. This is unacceptable, but quite widespread here in LV. So being the prick that I am when it comes to wasting my time, I told him since you can't do your job, I will. Just as an example, Steve Howe was at his best on the Fragile, Close To The Edge albums, therefore out of respect for the composer, please play the parts / sounds correctly. So the second time he came unprepared, I was ready to put him in his place w/ Gigastudio samples, and Six-String. After a most embarassing rehersal, he has bought the pedals / FX needed. I thanked him as I was covering the guitar through a leslie patch w/ a single preset from Six-String calles Bread Leslie. But I still cover the acoustic guitar capoed parts, and the intro. And when Six-String / Gigastudio samples are blended. It is a very good sounding acoustic guitar, although virtual in nature. It stems from my youth as a guitar player, so knowing ther voicings and positions w/ open strings, etc., is vital.

The pre production rehersals have been quite productive, and being an asshole is what it takes. But there are many like him here in Las Vegas making major cash. It is therefore my duty to punish them in live performances. In the old days, I would steal their women, and their gig.
I have no tolerance 4 these fools that neglect their God given talents. It usually takes a couple of rehersals to straighten them out.

Music should be fun and not so serious, but if this is what you do for a living, and you want to share the stage w/ me, you had better do your homework or suffer the consequences.

@ Any rate, Six-String / Giga is @ least a great addition to my arsenal, and most guitarists appreciate backing guitar tracks during their solos.

These are quality guitar libraries that I use:

Six-String w/ Alfonsos presets
Horizons Overdrive by Steve Vai 4 GS3
Origins DVD from Ilio
Maximum Strength Guitars from Tascam
Old 8bit Ensoniq Mirage sample w/ feedback on the mod wheel.

The old Mirage sample is so dirty and effective if played correctly. I have no need for precision 24bit samples of distorted guitars, Scope can dirty them up just fine thank you very much.

I Know I'm An Asshole @ Times, But I Don't Show Up To A Gunfight w/ A Knife.

You're a great resource Mr. James. I know all those albums well and all those old FAT things that you describe so your constant investigation into how Scope fits into the Old World is really taken the whole platform on another tangent. Not to mention your unabashed enthusiam which wakes me up from my slumbers from time to time. I was in Las Vegas once and couldn't wait to get out into the desert after one full day and night on the strip. But seeing you gig may be a reason to come back and believe me this time what happens in Vegas I'm taking back with me (a little more knowledge)....keep up the great work! :D

Make some posts from to time in Learngigastudio if possible also, as we are growing there, and sucsess of GVI / Giga 4 rely on our sucsess there.

PM me if you ever come to Vegas. I plan on playing the dives off of the strip as soon as I become more financially able to do so. As the pay there is half of the money, but the trim is abundant, and you only play Thursday thru Saturday. No burning out. That leaves three days to prepare for the next battle, and learn even more devices !!
