a friend of mine once told me it is ilegal for me to offer scope patches and preset packs for sale.
this seems rather absurd to me, is there any truth in this?
cheers

He might have confused the fact, that if you are the owner of an SDK you are not allowed to "sell" the plugins that you produce with it only give them away for free.

Check out the synthedit module developer Dave Haupt's website ...
http://www.dehaupt.com/SynthEdit/DH_BasicModulePak.htm (that's not the homepage btw)
Basically, he's programmed a LOT of custom modules for synthedit & they're available to download freely from his website, but you'll notice how he also clearly empasises the availability of a full pack download for each of his packs, which is available after making a small donation via paypal.
I think that might be a nice way of working for anyone wishing to sell patches or presets for Scope. This is only my own humble opinion about your question. As for legalities from CW's point of view, well that's another matter which only they can shed any light on.
