Planetz is frustrating me

Guys,
[grumpy moderator]
I will not be a part of this whole "DAS versus everybody" fiasco.
I've done all I can do to assist and moderate.
I wash my hands of it.
Don't ask me to be involved.
Don't expect me to read all these threads.
Don't expect me to have all the answers, or know who is right and wrong.
Don't ask me to ban people.
Don't ask me to delete content.
Don't ask me to intervene.
Don't send me legal threats, or comments about seeking justice.
Don't expect replies to the private messages, even if you're being nice or apologizing.
Whoever still really cares about this (there's only a handful of people really involved) should take it up somewhere else. DAS, start your own forum and discuss it there. Whatever.
At times like this, I ask myself if planetz is really worth the effort.
[/grumpy moderator]
As we start the new year, try to get some perspective, and please resolve to leave this mess behind.
-John

John,
I think you are the best moderator, period. I have been to Northern Sounds, no moderation what so ever, and dozens of experts who disagree, and fight more than the Yugoslavians did. Then there are heavily moderated forums that won't let you post if you complain about their services, or products.
So we here at the Z are blessed, and I 4 one am grateful for this great place of learning. I would not have purchased the platform, except the threads here were so helpful, and full of addicts. We are all members who agree that Creamware rules, that's what binds us together. Believe me I have worked in a couple of all girl bands, and this is similar, except 4 the drunken wrestling matches which I thoroughly enjoy to a point. Especially the front rolling tit ear jabs. These guys who are involved have understanably lost their patience, and I am sure that they have gotten things off of their chests by now.
So please keep the faith, as you know you have created an international place of learning that equals private chats that scientists from around the world
participate in.

John, your post has some phase inversion issues and you have used too much "english language basic atoms" to do it!!!
Happy 2007!

No, that's not what I meant.
The entire debate/war is about DAS products, so could have been better to discuss at a DAS-hosted forum.
Better yet, let's just leave the whole thing behind, and start the new year with fresh perspective.
Cheers,
-John

agreed - wasn't it all about heated words and less about content ?

The identical backup copy works as it's supposed to, so it's not a messed or instable system in general.

..., you know that even one sample can be crucial sometimes.

astro,
one sample in 44 or 48 or 96 can be more than significative in given situation !
it's a real problem for our developments,
you build a circuit, think it's good and tomorow morning all is inverted !
...
CW has found a very good way of developping SHARC proc ( i personaly know other firms that have very very good results too with SHARC programming ) but as you noticed, nothing is perfect ! we all have phase issues , and as you told it in an earlier post, one day you hear something, 3 days later you (COULD) hear something else !
that's not real only with CW !!! and is really worse with some others, once again, CW as found a very good way !
...
we could continue this kind of discussion more far ! ...
cheers olive
so it wasn't all bad and ugly - and let's remember a thread from 2002 (!)
http://www.planetz.com/phpBB2/viewtopic ... sc&start=0
as an example about discussion skills
apologies to John for my beating and twisting of words (sometimes)
so let's get over it and
happy new year to Eric and Olive
(...and of course to everyone else on planetZ)
one deep breath, and then it almost wrote itself...
cheers,Tom
ps: the quote above is cut and some typos are edited to keep it as short as possible - it's purpose is to illustrate some consense and not any particular point of view
the discussion IS finished, as John suggested

Meanwhile Back At The Ranch,
With so many skillful guys on the same thread here, I felt it nescessary to jump in and change the topic.
I want to buy this unit for live work, to be used w/ Sennheiser EW152G2's. I can get it for 700 USD delivered. next day. Can't afford it until the middle of Jan, as I have been a very bad boy for Christmas.
Anyone Here Know Of This Item? I only have used mic pres in the studio which were always those super expensive solid state and tube mic pres which are great but the Manleys, Avalons, and Crane Songs are ridiculously high, and I doubt anyone uses them live. This seems to be marketed well, but I prefer the advice of my fellow pulsarians over some schmuck from an ad agency.
BTW, I have purchased 5 x EW152G2's, 2 x Heil PR40's, and the 5 x UE Pro 10's were free thank God cause I am broke 4 a couple of weeks. These all work well but I had to give back the Crane Song solid state. So any advice on a good 8 channel mic pre 4 live not studio work, is appreciated. If I do some recording of vocals I guarenfuckintee it will be on the Ibis, or Flamingo.
Gotta Catch A Flight, Happy New Year, Seasons Beatings, etc.

jimmy,
it's a very interesting 8 pre /1U solution ...
the pre's sound is very acceptable for live and also why not in studio.
i personaly really like presonus hardware and ADDA conv ,
i even know some well known french FOH sound ingineer that use DIGIMAX as pre on a DM2000 Yamaha instead of Yamaha pres ... that in fact do not sound so well !
this one has got a ADAT lightpipe that you can plug directly in your cw board !
but .... it's only a AD convereter !!! means that you don't have analog outputs from ADAT !
this is not very important in some case (if you already have one) but the real problem is that , as there is no ADAT IN, you MUST synchronise it via BNC connector with worldclock !!!
this means that you MUST have a BNC worldclock in your setup !!! (A16, syncplate ....)
if not it will have to be "master" for sync and your DAW as "slave" : i personally don't like to do this !!! but theorically it works of course .
cheers

Hello and Happy New Year To Everyone,
Please John do not abandon Planet Z!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is a great site and community and extremely helpful to technically disadvantaged types like me. There is a huge wealth of useful information here that is invaluable!!!
Unfortunately, I know of no internet music forum or otherwise that is free from bickering and occassional lashing out at people. No doubt the occupational hazard of internet forums.
Please keep Planet Z alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
