Hello,
this question for the tips and tricks.

Is there a way to have scope open at windows startup ? not only the driver, but the app and default project too (open, ie not only running in the background, but actually opens the project) ?

Maybe save your project as startup?

That save start up used to work for me - but whenever i save the start up project now it doesn't seem to work. i'd like to know too. Where is the start up file to be found?

put an alias to the exe (without the -s option) into the windows autostart folder.

What do you mean "it used to work"? How it behaves now?
Sometimes when i create a new project (from scratch) and then accidentaly press ctr+S... i get frustrated cause the next time i restart my machine takes a lot of time to load (21 DSP's projects) cause it loads the big project...

Yes I misexpressed myself. Saving the project as startup is not enough : first, i need to reactivate windows startup entry (without the "-s" as wolf mentionned) but didn't want to mess up with the system if there are special things to do. Also, saving as startup never really allowed me to start scope fully ( i want to "see" the project window opened, if possible).

Couldn't see it for some reason. i'll try saving directly there - doesn't seem to work from the Settings menu.

i have already seen this case, with scope 3.1c and win 98 on a PC of one of my customer ... but i thought it was a bug from scope ... Maybe it was not (a bug) and it's really possible ...

ah well, i thought it would have been discussed on planetz and that there would be an easy solution... + my skills with computers are really in the scope devices, not really in windows-xp-non-dos tweakings (yes, i would be more confortable in editing files like autoexec and such)


still looking for that bloody windows autostart folder wolf mentionned : i wonder if it has the same name on my french windows....

Interstingly enough my SCOPE does launch the project window on start up on my computer, but it just won't bloody load the start up project - i've even tried saving over it and it still loads this silly default like it always did. Wish i knew what setting was launching the window Mehdi - but i didn't change anything from the SCOPE install (i have 4.5 BTW).

mehdi, the easy solution is to create an alias in the autostart folder. It should be shown in the program menu. Don't know, if it is named different in french though.
sonolive, fortunately it was never a bug (I use this since years to have quick access to scope).
mr arkadin, you'll find two buttons in the scope settings for saving a start up project and a default project. what project (default or startup) is loaded at startup is determined by the -s option, which you can add / remove in the properties of the alias. The startup project loads hidden, while the default one loads like usual.

Ok it works.
Here is how I did:

I didn't have to edit / reactivate any startup entry (ie the things you can see in the "msconfig" window (accessible from windows's "start" / execute / type msconfig and enter).

- I've just put a shortcut to SFP in the startup programs folder (which in the french xp is C:\windows\Menu Démarrer\Programmes\Démarrage (see this link for a few other languages : http://packetstormsecurity.org/Win/auto.txt )

- restart the pc, and scope starts immediately, opening the project (well the project is not opened, but scope is actually in the running program bars, not only in the quick launch near the clock).

that's it...

well if someone knows a trick to actually open automatically the project window, it would be even better (to save one click

errh, yes .. shortcut was the name for that thingie, not alias .. this was on mac ..

nothing easier like that: use that button for the default project in the settings window to save the project you wish to have popping up.

Sorry, i don't get what you mean by the -s option, i'm a bit of a PC thicky. Also i would have thought that putting a cross in the Active check box in Settings would make that saved option active. Maybe i should try unchecking it? Also my project does open as Mehdi wants, dunno why.

I will try your additional trick now.
By the way, the link in my above post about location of the startup folder is wrong. In the french version it is
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Menu Demarrer\Programmes\Demarrage\
It should be the same on other windows versions (i suppose...)

The scope entry in the "msconfig" thingy is still unchecked.

nb: yes, it opens the scope project window, so there is no need to click to open it (don't know why it didn't do it the first time, I probably clicked too soon somewhere in the desktop).

Wolf will confirm, but after you create the shortcut (see other posts, or the tips and trick section) , right click on it, choose "properties" and check the path. After the path you add by yourself -s (i don't remember if you have to put a blank space between the *.exe and -s , but it is possible. try without first)
