I used to own a Drawmer LX20, a great compressor , it does a very nice creamy sound on a full mix. Does anyone know a good combination of compressors/limitors to get that sound? I have tried Vinco, Dadev, Celmo strip, Polteq, freebies etc etc... I have most of the plugins.

Same for the SPL Vitalizer - which has various versions - for bass enhancement, and stereo/hi boost etc - ie enhancing - but PsyQ, Optimaster and others always sound a bit ... not sure what the term is... but not quite 'right'.

I have also used an Audient Sumo summing mixer, which everyone said made my mixes loads better, but I was not so sure. I think mix sound is more a question of personal taste.

With the LX20 the effect is very clear, it sort of glues everything together and improves the sound at the same time.

These racks are quite cheap now, but I don't want the wiring up hassle.

Any ideas welcome!

it might as well be a question of strategic approach - at least that's my guess after reading Janni's explanation (see music section) regarding how he achieved this outstanding (imho) transparency in his mixes.
Basically it's smart distribution over busses and group processing - fairly obvious on a 2nd thought (for some even immediately), but one has to get there first... and arrange sounds according to the 'mind map'

ps: private memory test: Hubird sold his SPL vitalizer (or at least joked about it) since he used Optimaster, and his mixes don't lack sparkle - imho

Nothing wrong with your memory (yet), I was able to achieve about the same sound from the PsyQ.
I still have 'm BTW, for an old fashioned hunger winter or so
The Optimaster word must be a typo then (I hope), you meant PsyQ

The Drawmer emulation is interesting - analog compression, etc - I will chain a few more varieties together and see if I can get a similar sound; although now I don't have one, just some recordings. Audio cream? What's that???
