Hi,

Is there a way to use the VST plugins when mixing in the Scope STM2448 mixer? (I would like to use the Waves IR-1 plugins on the tracks)

FYI, I use Nuendo2 & Gigastudio.

sure, use waves in nuendo.

Then I have to record all individual Gigastudio channels to audio (since I route all the Gigastudio channels directly to the STM mixer).

Is it the only way?

I believe you have 3 options, but first lets clear something out. You can't run native VST-plugins in the Scope environment, as if they were Scope-plugins. Scope is not a vst-host like Nuendo.

Option 1: You can run Gigastudio in rewire mode directly into Nuendo and then to the Scope mixer.

Option 2: Is a bit more tricky. But you could run gigastudio directly into Scope, and the reroute all channels from here into Nuendo via ASIO-channels in and then back out to Scope again through Asio out.

Option 3: You can set up an external AUX channel in your Scope environment, route the aux channels into a VST-host using the ASIO channels. In Nuendo you then create a track or a fx-track where you load your waves plugin and run the AUX-signal from Scope trhough, and then back out through the ASIO channels.

Running Gigastudio in ReWire mode seems to be the easiest way if you ask me.

I tried this one time without success....
I wanted to run a native IR-Reverb and tried to connect the asio wires so that I could use the aux knobs on my scope to add reverb, but
I was only able to get the sound from scope back into my sequencer, but never got it back to scope again on the aux part....
I m sure it works, but I may be too stupid.

And this will also introduce some latency issues, which wouldn`t be a big problem at all. At least with reverb. I use a latency of 13ms , and a pre-delay of 26ms would be alright for a reverb. At least for large halls....
And you could also reduce the latency further down for better results...

just use rewire.

my gigastudio is not version3, so i cannot rewire it.

i guess i am going to try the option3 then.

btw, i saw my friend using the reverb to the tracks is by duplicating dry track, put reverb 100% wet to the new created dry track, then adjust the level between the original dry & reverbed wet tracks.

for me what i do with the reverb normally is just simply put reverb in fx channel, then adjust the parameter level.

since i am just amature guy, i would like to ask for opinion.

What ASIO modules & routing should I do for the option3?

asio 2 modules,
about the routing it seems to be already explained, but, if you use the external effects modules as stm inserts, you save time making the routing.
i think in cubase or nuendo the best way is to use an empty audio track instead an fx track, then set the asio in and out (the same that you set in the external effect module) and enable monitoring.
It should work.
it's normal that working in this way, you will have an higher latency.

in you cubasesx inspector, you need uncheck the direct monitoring
in the cubase preference
