Firewire cables for A16U-some questions

I have never used a FW audio interface and am unfamiliar with the different FW protocalls.(FW 400, 800, etc) What cable does the A16U use (6 pin to 6-pin / 9 pin to 9 pin?) and how long a cable run is possible? I will need at least 4 meters. Will I need a repeater/booster to achieve this?
Thanks,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FireWire
4,5m seems to be the limit without repeater
The Firewire 800 is backward compatible with Firewire 400, so i guess a 3pair Firewire cable fits both protocols and z-link.

that's right,
4.5 m is the max but you can "boost" the signal and increase this lenght with a fire wire hub (it have to be powered) it works fine !
