i just bought a scope project (synths and sampler)this week.

i would like to get an optimaster(or something similar) to smooth out finished mixes for playing live and cds.

is optimaster the best plugin to get for this job?
its very expensive and i don't want to make the wrong purchase

also has anyone got any tracks with and without optimaster so i can hear for myself?

best wishes ,

nick

I don't regularly use optimaster, but together with psyQ, it can really make your tracks sound finished and polished. I'd recommend checking out the demo so you can hear for yourself. That's as accurate as it can get.

My CD ihas been totally mastered with Optimaster and nothing else, except for very little EQ tweaks before it,( but if I found something too much needing it I re-did the mix), and according to some opinions it sounds pretty good...some friends that don't know Scope well couldn't believe that all was done within it.

the cool thing on Optimaster is the Wizard.

Click the button wait about 15 seconds... and let Optimaster do the rest....

Then do some fine tuning.... and you got it....

At the end I always change the master channels volume on the mixer for more or less compression. But thats just how I work with it.
:)

Its a good mastering compressor, not for colouring(like vinco), but to make your mixes loud without changing the overall sound too much.

I could add this to my page soon or later. :)
But that may need a day again. After yesterdays party I feel no lust...

just uploaded a track (B@Love), which is mastered with Optimaster and PsyQ.
Optimaster is easy to handle, the three separate bands work wonderfull, and you can choose fast settings without hearing the ugly pumpin' effect.
you won't regret :-)

not that I want to spoil CWA's sales, but since you 'have to save for MM...' you'll probably notice it anyway by yourself:
for the shop price you can easily get a 2nd hand 6 DSP card which has the package included - and the other package as well, probably ;)

cheers, Tom

that is what I usually tell customers to save them money and give them more DSP and more I/O :)

You can always support planetZ with the purchase of a MnM from John
