Creamware driver multiclient?

Just wondering if I will be able to use the Creamware ASIO driver with my VSTi's like NI B-4, Synthogy Ivory and Garritan Personal Orchestra (uses NI Kompact interface) in their standalone apps( without having to interface them with a sequencer like Cubase). Also......how's the efficiency of this driver when used natively? I'll need to have 64k buffer settings (3ms latency) at 44.1KHZ when tracking VSTi's to audio channels (no midi). I realize that CPU is an issue, but with my dual core AMD 4800 and lots of RAM, this shouldn't be an issue....should it?

no, asio is not multiclient.
3-4ms is no problem for me.

Interesting that RME I/O shows up in these standalone applications. these are definitely ASIO. Perhaps I'm confused.

no, i don't think you are confused.
RME is the only multiclient asio driver i know of. i'm not sure how they implement that trick.

This is something I didn't know as the only native system I've ever used has been RME based.

there is some application with the goal of live playing vst instruments.
Brainspawn forte is the first i have in mind, so you can use multi channel asio drivers without the need of opening a standard host sequencer.

there are many light vst hosts that are only hosts not sequencers.

if it's just the one vsti and it supports stand alone use it can be used without opening a host. it would be nice to open several stand alone vstis, but the above solution is almost the exact same thing.

I've actually got a devlopers license for Forte. It's a very cool program. That's one I had in mind when I was thinking of how I would get around having to use Cubase if I just wanted to record audio direct and couldn't use the VSTi's own native interface. My Pulsar cards arrived yesterday afternoon. Still waiting on the sync plate and a few other odds and ends before I install the cards and software.

Sooooo.........
Chainer will allow access to up to 10 x ASIO I/O.
FXPansion Simple Virtual Host will allow access to 4 x ASIO I/O
Forte, for my purposes, would allow access to 10 x ASIO I/O
Steinberg VStack will allow access to 16 ASIO I/O……
RT player will allow access to a few more ASIO I/O……..

So it appears that using all of these on the same machine, I could, "in theory" access *at least* 40 ASIO* I/O

Now assuming I was running all five of these on the same system sending/returning signal in and out of 40 ADAT I/O whil'st processing these signals through 4 x UAD-1 cards (and other VSTi's) with a UAD-1 delay comp instantiated in the first slot of each host set ot compensate for 4 x plugins and that all of these VST hosts had a predictable latency ..........well.....you know where I'm going with this, don't you?

huh? lol.

Incidentally I really love bidule as a vsti host & more. Certainly would opt for bidule over V-stack any day. It depends on how you work though, Forte is far more straightforward when it comes to organizing things into a nice set list & dealing with on-stage issues, but bidule wins on the experimental & flexible front, especially since you don't even have to have a single global tempo (sync) and it has a lot of low-level tools built in.

Will bidule allow audio inputs and outputs? If so, is there a limit? I have a friend who writes code for MRI machines and I was going to ask him to help me write an FX rack that could access as many ASIO inputs and outputs as were available to the audio workstation so that simple I/O channels could be created and would be able to insert at least 5 VST FX on each channel. Something very simple like this is all I need. Nothing fancy.

Will Bidule allow this type of configuration?

You're using dualcore AMD? Well, then there's something you should know...Scope doens't seem to be compatible with Athlon x2. The ASIO performance while in multiprocessing mode is terrible, resulting in clicks and pops. Turning off one core in boot.ini fixes the problem, but then you've lost half your CPU. This problem has happened to both myself and another person on this forum. Intel Core Duo seems to work fine.

Just thought you should know.... :(

Hmmmmm.....OK. do you think this would apply if I was just using the Scope DSP in a standalone fashion, routing audio to/from the DSP modules?
