ken, this is beautiful. The reverb on the drums sounds fantastic and makes a lot of the piece what it is.

May I ask what reverb you used for this?

Nice job with the rhodes. Fits in to the atmosphere very well. Synth pads sound awesome. I love the 'bitcrushed/distorted' sounding synth bits after the middle.

Definately one for the music collection... I don't know how you do it man!

it's just masterverb set to a pretty low, lowpass setting. (below 2000hz I think) I think psyq's stereo enhance that came after it created the very creamy feel.

Lovely track Ken - cool

How starange that I happen to be working on a track with a working title of "Summers End"

I've decided to scrap it now

Really like this one Ken :-)

My only criticism is the sharpness and loudness of the 'clap' sound which runs through it. If I turn the track up to a normal listening level, this sound hurts my ears somewhat so I have to keep the volume level very low.

Brotha' Man kensuguro,
Autumnbreeze is sad, beautiful, and promising. Very nice work. The Rhodes style is reminiscient of Gayle Moran's tracks on Apocolypse w/ Micheal Tilson Thomas, and Mahavishnu Orchestra.
The Rhodes sound is very nice, I couldn't hear more than one velocity level though. Was it modular? I love the sound, I use Scarbee Rhodes samples for their authenticity. I would like to know what you used, as it has perplexed me. No one I ever heard play could stay at the exact same velocity levels for that long. Please tell me, I must know!!

I suspect it's Ken's 73 patch - but i may be wrong.

Nice track, Ken :)

Thanks Wayne,
I believe you are right. Nice patch Kensuguro, and great tune. I look forward to putting a couple of my tunes in the thread after I get a grip with Cubase 4 next month. It would be considered Ambient Fusion I guess.

Jimmy, the rhodes in this one is s preset from sampletank 2 xl, I believe it's soft rhodes. And unfortunately I think you're right about the velocity. Not that I'm playing at the same velocity, it's just that the patch is so unsensitive, it always sounds the same. I can swear sampletank's only got 1 velocity layer sample.

I switch between scarbee and sampletank.. I just go with sampletank when I don't feel like loading kontakt. It may be just me, but it feels like scarbee's mid high (solo/melody range) is a little weak, while the mid/midlow (chord range) comes out much stronger.. Is that how it's supposed to be? Ends up with me punching my nord electro (just as controller) keys to get the solo to stand out.

Could also be a nord electro problem though, because although I can change how electro's internal velocity curve, I can't change the curve of the MIDI velocity it outputs.. and it seems fairly concentrated around 80. I really wish I can change that.

ambient not

Thanks 4 the reply,
I really liked the sound of it, and the way it was used. When something works, it just does sometimes.
Is there a catalog somewhere with examples of what is ambient, house, trance, psychedelic, garage, basement, shower?? I am a little confused on this matter.

hehe. Well, for me, I just put "ambient" as in, "play it in the background and go about your daily life" kinda music. Maybe "lounge" is a better description.

Hubird,
I couldn't have asked for more. I am embarrassed to post music here for many reasons, but this is going to be a reality soon, so the more I know and hear, the better. I will write something for the " Z " first, which will be all electronically synthesized, then record some ideas that captivate me, then sit back and wait for the crirics to comment. I am only waiting for Cubase 4 to arrive, as VDAT is beyond me at this time, and I have no more patience with my hardware sequencers and their miniature LCD's. The all girl band has made me add several new grooves and songs to their long list of demands, this has burnt me out on my own hardware temporariliy. So Cubase will rescue me.

Thank You Gents, Kensuguro listen to Apocolypse, you will enjoy it's spacing of sounds.

ditto it's a bit harsh. Nice song. the kick seems too busy and out of time at the begining. The bass sometimes sounds a bit out of tune.. it would be interesting to hear a real bassist and drummer have a take on it

good work
