hi!
i'm using dynatube and, for now, i have always used a presonus tubepre (with gain and drive at the minimum values...) to feed dynatube.
i have also tried to enter directly into pulsar 1 analog input and to use the direct out of a behringer VAMP pro.
the presonus seems to me the best option between my three, but i was wondering if there are some other possibility and/or equipment to consider... some DI box for example...
from what i have learned so far, the best results are obtained by feeding the cleanest signal, without drive and with minimum noise...

i would be interested to gather your experience!
maybe we can even arrange a comparison between different equipments, uploading somewere several dry guitar tracks to make some experiment...

the Beringher Mic200 (advise from a planetz guitarist who uses it) is perfect with dynatube ! And very cheap !

yes, a preamp with a hiz input is best. a di box through a loz input on a micpre is good too. on the tubepre, you'll likely want to use less "gain" and more "volume", to avouid an over saturated sound, but maybe saturation might sound good....usually, a solid state micpre has only a gain control since you really don't want to oversaturate transistors most of the time(with mics anyway)...

the mic 200 should be similar to a "standard" tube preamp, like mine...
one thing i miss... my tubepre has hi or lo impedance?? if it has hi impedance it would be (theoretically) ok, isnt it?

loz=xlr jack

you have loz for sure with almost all possible mic pres you might use. as your pre has a 1/4"(instrument) jack, then you don't need a di. di's have their own sound, so sometimes people will want to use a certain di because they like what comes out. for the most part, the di's that i might prefer to use(personally) cost more than your tubepre, so i wouldn't worry about that. the tubepre's 1/4' jack should be pretty good...

hiz=1/4" jack is also called "instrument in"
loz=xlr jack is also called "microphone in"

The Presonus TubePre is a perfectly ok active DI.

If you want to step up, look for a GT "Brick".
