Anyone using SFP in a live venue? I wish to hear about your experience with SFP live. I use it everyday and night. The only problems I have ever had with it was at home during programming, or recording. This is a very stable platform, that is why I am building a second 45 DSP SFP DAW. My 1st box was 3 x 6 DSP's, and I quickly outgrew it with the addition of Solaris, Adern, and other devices I wanted to add. This new box will solve all of my project loading problems. Just once is my new motto.

I wanna use my Noah live, but as a pedalboard bass, vocoder etc.

A little OT, but Jimmy you'd be the guy to ask - you know of any good organ pedal setups?

roland makes the pk-5a and pk7a pedal controllers as well as the pk-25 which has wooden keys like a b3....

Pedalboards would make great loop players and control switches these days, in addition to the traditional uses...Hmm.

I still recall very young (and very high..um..minded) versions of my friends, all playing slow shifty drones on an old 3 tier organ we used to own. My girlfriend and I on the floor, playing the bass pedals, exchanging looks...

Long trippy nights, 25 years gone.
I have some on tapes, but tapes only capture the sound itself...some of my friends are gone now, but my g-friend and i ? Still together. Whaow. Pair bonding primates.

Sorry for the thread meander (not a hijacking, honest!} I just got nostalgic.
Ahem. No, i have not used scope live yet, nor do i plan to, except in the studio live.
Pretty stable platform inder dualcore athlon here.

Loops are great idea. I've seen it done, with Taurus Bass synth sounds on call also. I know of a guy who still uses his feet with a DX7, and a B3. He has a job until he doesn't want it anymore. He is at the Top Of The Wheel Nightclub at Harveys Casino, South Shore Lake Tahoe. He is 80 plus years old. Many great stories he has about drugs and women in the '60's. His name is Ron Rose. He will always be a legend on the B3 w/ pedals to me. His trick was to keep your knees together 4 better accuracy when doing walking bass lines. Who knows, he might want an ASB. Almost forget, remember the Oberheim DMX w/ sequencer? I programmed some patterns on it 4 him back in 1986, and he says it has never crashed once yet!! They sure don't make 'em like they use to.

hi SCope4live,

I also use very regularly my CW boards for live apps, as a FOH engineer,

I use 2 cards (15+6) in a magma rack

I use it :
A - As a peripherals rack ... with one or two A16 (16 or 32 IN/OUT) as an insert rack : Comp gates, optimaster, psyq, SL 9000, RMX160, MASTERBERPRO ...) : it's a very powerfull system !!!

- when i setup FOH (baby sitting), i use 31 Graph EQ, delays, comps and so on ... and let the engineers the choice use CW as an insert rack or use "standard" analog devices ... some of them are ok to use it and they never regret ... on the contrary, they generally love the sound and the flexibility,
but of course, some of them, "the older ones" prefer not to even try !!!

- when i work as a free lance engineer, mixing for bands, i use it eclusively as an insert rack , it's very interesting becaus, in festivals, when there are many bands on the same stage, i don't care about the inserts, i use only mine (CW) and let others FOH ingeneers fight for "standards " hardware !!!

B - of course, i also use it for recording (24/48 via ASIO > Nuendo )with or without USB Disk drive

I own a VAIO CGN A 217 M and easyly use the internal HD of the vaio (about 30 Go - if i have to record more , i use external USB2 devices)

i have already posted about that but what i really regret, is that CW do not build a 2U rack, with 32 ADAT IN OUT connected with laptop via USB2, 1394 or even PCMCIA (with is the best bandwith of all)

And tou, scope 4 live , do you use a magma rack ?

I'm very interested in improving lives apps for CW !!! if you have ideas ... even for some plugs we (DAS) should build !

cheers,
olive

You are the man I am looking to speak to. I am trying to use 3 x 6 DSP SFP DAW 4 live monitoring, and mixing. I wish to have a monitor mixer 4 scope, in conjunction with a regular scope mixer. I am trying to build this as we speak. It is not a great solution, but I will let you know if it works. It must have 5 seperate stereo sends for wireless UE8's ( Wireless in your ear monitors, stereo 2-way ). This is a major chore. Can you help by building a mixer? I would love to toss my expensive rental back. It's an excellant board though, the Crest.

My God,
I remember b4 I bought Scope I was looking at this very mixer 2 years ago. I never posted, but read the threads on the z 4 over a year b4 I joined. I usually do a lot of research b4 I make a purchase. I have so much faith in any forum member that I buy 3rd party stuff w/o the need 4 demos and such. After I bought Solaris I emailed JB and apologised 4 having him send me a demo. Then I realised who he was and was so humbled. I since never feel the need to ask anyone 4 demos again. But I would like to see what you use 4 FOH/insert work. This is what DAW #1 will be doing from now on. Funny, I am becoming so Scoped out these days, I look to SFP to do everything audio 4 me. For me to rent the Crest XRM was very painful, especially knowing that someone from 3rd party developer world could make something 4 me. I currently pay 1,000 USD per month 4 the Crest XRM, but it is an excellant monitor mixer. We won't be needing anything that elaborate. Actually I was hoping to run 5 stereo sends from a nice 3 or 4 AUX send mixer. Enough chit-chat, we shall talk on Monday next week. Thank you 4 your reply. BTW I never got to download or purchase your mixer, but it looks top shelf to me.

To Us, And Those Like Us,
