Trying to decide which, if any, to buy in the sale. These are the only two I don't have. I'd prefer 6 string but as I have Tassman I wondered if its worth it. Tassman uses a lot of CPU so a DSP powered Physical modeller would be useful but only if the quality is of the same standard or better.
I have heard the GMedia Oddity and wasn't that impressed - sounded quite thin and toylike to me. Is the Prod any better and is it enough of an alternative to the Minimax and Pro 12 to be useful as a source of new textures?

With the summer specials you can have both for the normal price of one....

Or neither if they are not worth it - in the absence of a demo I'm reliant on feedback from people who have used them.

I find both of them great, I've used both of them in my CD, the only synths apart of the Modular+Flexor and a little of Pro12. And I've used 6string to model some pads and weird sounds or etnic sounds like indian tampoura, you can go in territories different from VA, and Prodyssey is a true beast, it can go deep as nothing else and you can modulate this deepness in the weirdest way.
6 string is an hungry synth, if you want to use it with 6 voices, to have a complete guitar phraseability a scope home is not enough for sure, Prodyssey makes sense also with low poliphony, I couldn't live without any of the 2.

Yes, definately. It's a wild sounding synth, just like an Odyssey. It's capable of synthesis that neither the Pro-12 or Minimax are capable of.
Six String is also 1st class.

Prodyssey (Odyssey) is my prefered synth!
It is a right complement of Pro-12 & Minimax for a complete palette of sounds.

dunno about the prodyssy, but I got the six string quite a while ago and it could just be the way I work, but it's gathering digital dust. It's sort of DSP hungry for the amount of stuff it does in my opinion. But that's just my point of view. Many people love it, so...

Do you know how it compares sonically to Tassman or String Studio? They are also hungry for CPU - I don't mind that if the quality is good.

Don't know about the SFP versions, but the Noah version of six-string offers the same number of voices as the Prodyssey (maximum of twelve on my Noah EX). I really like the six-string, you can get it to sound very authentic or completely off the wall stuff that you'd struggle to get any other way. Would be good to see more physical modelled devices on the platform. Have to admit that I do use Prodyssey more often though

Quite agree with sharc...
I also have both Prodyssey and 6-string for NOAH.
Actually they sounds quite different and are really for differents uses.
IN term of DSP-use they both achieve a 12 note polyphony using the 11 DSP of the NOAH Ex...
Cheers and nice shopping...

Would I be able to get 6 voices out of my 9 DSP's for 6 string?

I've got both on Noah only, but it shouldn't be a problem at all in SFP methinks.

go for prodyssey ! Amazing and give you specific sounds hard to find elsewere. Six tring is very intersting if you do not paly guitar though...

Sixstring is extremely musical, expressive and "playable". I controll it from my Yamaha KX5 - keytar. The aftertouch and modwheel bring out very realistic nuances of the sound. I love playing distorted guitar on the KX5 - it's even better than the real thing!

Prodyssey is just one great analog emulation synth, its key feature being for me its Sample&Hold module wich allows you to produce some great sound effects.
Six-String being based on physical modelling principle can achieve some acceptable guitar sounds BUT it is also a great stuff to start producing sounds that you cannot find elsewhere (it kind of remind me of the YAMAHA VL-70m which was basically much more brass oriented as it was designed to be the companion of their MIDI SAX WX range ...).

hi,
Kymeia's quote:
" Would I be able to get 6 voices out of my 9 DSP's for 6 string? "
yes ofcourse, even 8 voices with 9 dsp, providing you don't load many modules,
cheers,

Great - well I've bought both anyway in the end. 6 string is my favourite of the two though so far - it is very playable - I've heard some string emu's that sound mushy and artificial but this is very good - better than string Studio for accuracy of sound though String Studio can do more.

Some more presets for 6 string, some of them I used in my CD.
