It was beta of the BlackBox wave5 (so BB/SIlverdisc users should use the blue version of wave5).

It allows me to introduce you to Wave10  which is finally on finalisation stage
or here for details:

If you are interested, Wave 10 should be released soon (and shouldn't be expensive).

Have fun and a nice week
Mehdi

Hello Mehdi,
the Wave 10 looks promising. Is it meant to be played over midi through the keyzones only, or can I fire off the samples manualy from the device, pressing a button like run or something.

I would use the Wave 10 with field recording or other atmo samples to create a complete atmo background that plays for itself in loop mode.

nice one,
will the wave 10 be able to load 24 bit samples?

Hello there.
For the moment, it loads the classic 44.1/16bits samples only (just like wave5, no sf2 or other bitrate unfortunately - but the filters/effects/aux brings a lot to those samples).
It plays with midi : samples are simply located at various places over the same midi channel (like a synth that would be multisplitted). Samples cannot be triggered directly from the device: first, because it would remove the possibility to map a sample on a portion of the keyboard (to play melodies, or to overlap/layer samples) and also because it less precise than through midi (even if it is a few ms, it is still hearable and less convenient than with a keyboard).

It would work perfectly for what you want to do, triggering samples with a midi keyboard.

You can also fire samples together by making their "keyzone" overlap.

I hope it answers your questions.

Mehdi

Yes, my question is answered, thank you.
It shouldn´t be a problem to press one note to get the things started.

Devices like the Wave 10 can open nice worlds for you. Imagine loading 10 short samples and feed the device with a random note generator or arpeggiator. I can hear wave sequences a la Korg Wavestation, already.

Good luck!

Thanks very much for this Spacef.

Thanks for the free beta spacef. How much is wave10 gonna be? It looks very very promissing!
I'm gonna give wave5 a try and see if it fits with the way I work, or even gives a new way of working

about price, it should not be expensive and there will be the option to take it with or without the filters (if you already have spacef filters, or want to get them later...).

thanks for your interest !

I just uploaded a demo-preview of Wave10 on the demo page of my site.

ps: it loads 44.1/16 bits samples, in *.wav or *.s format (individual akai samples) : *.wav can be stereo, it will play them mono, but at least you can load stereo wave files without problems.

Is there a secret, how creamware did the big samplers with much less DSP consumption and stereo sampling?
I wonder if it's not possible to build a more economic sampleplayer similar to the STS2000 or the old sampleplayers.
Mono sampling is not my destination and the DSP consumption is really high, compared to STS samplers or old sampleplayers.

so what is your point ?
sts is a single script and does not use publicly released modules...
wave 5 free beta is not optimized neither (no control over voices, no internal optimization)...
ps : it is made for mono sample edition and has a very specific range of application (which can be obvious, but depends on ways people work).
otherwise, you have the sts 5000 and Battery 2 or tons of other sample players of a multitude of formats and bit rates.
Wave7 is pretty good on 15 dsp cards and give room for plenty of other devices in the same project. Wave10 is for people with even more ressources... (there are a few)

You're 100% right for sure!
M case: I just set up a third scope computer and don't want to exchange cards (...don't change a running system... I don't change my main system, because it runs very well).

I'd like to use the third computer for live-performance with sampling, but have put a Luna and a 4DSP SRB card in it.
Today I expirienced the problem, that I can't run any 'good' (for my needs) sampleplayer on that system.

When thinking about the future of scope it would be really great, to see DSP-light customized sampleplayers. That't what I think for years now and posted it to the adress of one of the best scope IIIParty developers.

Now I have the answer, that it depends on the possibilities creamware gives for developement.

I add now, and this is rather off-topic for this thread:
It would be great (and an important step to the future of CW), if creamware would give their STS developement to people who continue working on great samplers for creamware. Or they should do it their selfes...

Martin

P.S. WAV 5 has a very nice surface and would be a perfect sampler for my live-drumming. For that reason I was a bit dissappointed when recognizing that wavs can be played only monophonic. EDIT eerhhh. bullshit: can only be played mono, not monophonic - they can be played polyphonic for sure...

We could organize a sittin at CW this summer.
May be they'll treat us with nice wursts and beers (so we get drunk and forget what we came for) ...

Maybe we get a football-team in the 1/8 or 1/4 final to wear T-shirts with "Zu Gast bei Freunden: open source creamware!"

P.S. apropos beer. there should be some left in the refrigerator ... my girlfriend allready sits watching brasil. Maybe we should go out later for some non-sample-based-live-drumming.
