For anyone who uses Solaris 4.0, or any other SFP synth w/ lots of options. The M Audio KS 88 Pro is a live players dream. Never thought I could use all the features, but I have realised that this controller is a must have for me now. I originally bought this to retire my Oberheim MC3000, but the sheer amount of velocity curves and excellant action makes that a difficult choice. Since the action is far ahead of the M Audio in respect to dynamics, and weighted key feel, I have dedicated the KS 88 Pro to SFP/Analog control.
The rotary knobs work great. The sliders make the B2003 quite realistic in drawbar mode. Pedals and footswitches are all active, but the best switches are the toggled ones. They can be used to kick on the CEMs, Comb Filter, Wave Tables, RDXs, and Rotors instantaneously. Numerous buttons can control program changes also, but I usually can create the pallette I need by kicking in different Oscillators and Wavetables. I also have a row of knobs dedicated for Scope FX like the SSB family which really can change the sound of Solaris all by thenselves.
My tip is that this is a well built cheap priced controller, which really works great 4 live performance w/ Scope/GS3. Check out ebay. So many guys like me purchased this to replace Kurzweils, and other stage pianos, then realised the lack of velocity curves and synthy action couldn't cut it. They are selling theirs, but I found out the true use of this beauty. You can pick up 2 of these for 700 USD shipped. It is worth more than that to me.I only need to get the Ribbon Controller from Husker, and this will be 1 bad setup for SFP. Besides, it is so cheap, that I can buy more DSPs.
