I'm the guy who converted from a large touring rig to a semi-large touring rig last winter. Once again I find myself with a little time to chime in to this forum, which deserves praise also.
Sounds I couldn't possibly achieve without multiple takes in a studio has been my focus for live performance lately.
I never thought I'd be able to perform the songs I love the most live, due to playing all original gigs w/ signed and unsigned groups. But I have thrown together a live fusion/classical/jazz/retro rock band which is so gratifying. Most of the people who watch us probably think we wrote most of the material. I now get to perform Hancock,Weather Report,ELP,Yes,Zeppelin,Isao Tomita,Wendy Carlos, and some of my own stuff. Thanks to CWA and Tascam, I have the ability to re-create these excellant sounds and play them live. This is the best time I've had in a while. I constantly rehearse and it's because of my new beloved Scope Platform. God bless CWA, John Bowen, Celmo, GaryB, ( if I can help it will be an overpaid key tech on an upcoming tour )and the rest of you guys on this forum for all your input and ideas, including you Astro!!
It is my duty to promote this platform to all live players and try to convert them. It won't be hard, they are all watching the gig now wondering what the fuck is this guy using? I will convert the strong, and the ones who wish to party and gamble instead of buying new gear, will be punished by sound, for their weakness.

Hey there! Glad to hear that your cw rig is so gratifying! Did you describe how's your setup configured already? I'd like to have more details about it and how you work with it. I'm planning to do more live performances myself in the near future so I'm interested to know how others manage it.

Thanks!

Brother Man Eliam,
I have retired most of the hardware I use to use live. No need to post what was, but will post what is.

Hardware In Use:
Line 6 Echo Pro
Lexicon MPX-200
Studio Electronics SE-1x
Samson PL2404
M Audio KS88 Pro
M Audio KS88 ES
Barbetta Sona 31C ( x 2 )
Motion Sound Pro 3T

This is all racked up in SKB cases w/ a Standtastic 102KS 2 tier w/ 18" NEC LCD that is rackmounted to the stand. I use a wireless Logitech trackball which sits perfectly on the upper right side of KS88 Pro.
The Scope STM1632 is my choice of mixer.
I use Solaris,B2003,Expanded Polyphony Bluewave,and Minimax.
The FX are sparse, but cannot live w/o Celmos Tape Sim, and Phaza.
I have 3 Scope cards. 2 are Projects, and 1 is a SRB. 2 outputs go directly to Lexicon for a final room/hall treatment depending on where I'm playing. When I'm on a carpeted stage I will use a Hall algo, on a wooden stage w' Midas monitor mixers such as House Of Blues has, I will use a room simulation. The other 2 outputs from card 2 are Y'd up and sent to the Motion Sound Pro 3 for leslie effect. This little puppy can punish guitar players all night, and makes the B2003 sound pretty close to my old B3/C3. I can't even play the electronic simulation w/o cringing. Once you stand next to a rotary cabinet I'm sure you'll agree.
Gigastudio 3 Orchestra is a kick ass application with the new 24bit instruments. It was a good app. before, but now it's a bonifide tool for acoustic samples w/ their resonant body impulses. i.e. The pedal up/down impulses, and recreated resonant body sounds like an acoustic guitar make are phenominal. Especially when this gets sent to Lexicon for final 24bit algos added. GS3 effects suck really bad, so I use Nomad Factorys Blue Tubes for adding warmth and FX to GS3 so I can save on DSP for Solaris. It is rather hungry, but it does what I ask of it. This synth is a real VSTi killer, meaning that VSTi's cowar in fear when Solaris is near. Scope synths are so thick when I play 5 and 6 note chords, along w/ SE-1x mono bass and lead, that I have to treat all GS3 channels ( 3 stereo ) w/ PsyQ. EQing didn't work well, where as PsyQ was a 1 stop answer when used in small amounts. Most samples are recorded w/ EQ but just don't blend w/ Scope synths unless I use this trick.
I hope to hear from you on any sucsesses you have playing live. GaryB built this little box for me w/ an Intel 865, and 3GHz Northwood.I don't like the Prescotts, they leak alot of current. I have been punishing the local keyboard guys w/ this set-up since New Years Eve gig. Alot of local players are showing up. The ones that agree that this rig is unmatched for its ability to cover all styles and sounds will probably convert to Scope. The others, well let's say they will be punished by sound for their weakness, and choice of generic comprimise.

Hey there, thanks for the details! Impressive setup, must give you an amazing variety of sounds and textures. That is inspiring. I guess that you have a rackmounted 4u computer, do you?

I'm thinking and planning my live endeavour here, it will be more intimate, a trio with a violin and cello, plus me on piano/keys-voice, flute and clarinet. I'll probably be depending mostly on my e5000 ultra e-mu sampler for the ambient stuff as well as orchestral and synth sounds. This beast sounds amazing-and it's rock solid! My dream setup would include scope synths and fx but that won't be right now...

Eliam,
I bought my computer part by part for cheap. I have a more expensive one w/ 2 Scope Professionals for studio, it is an unnecsessary overkill. A 4U servercase CK-481 goes for 140 USD. Send GaryB a PM if you are interested in a good stable live rig. He did my live box w/ GS3 for a fraction of the cost of my studio box. By the way, I retired my Emulator IV, and Ultra 5000 Turbo for GS3. I couldn't be happier.
