Hi there,

is it possible to stack / cascade two Pulsar 2
cards - to have 12 DSP´s in total ?
Can one use both Analog inputs then - if its possible to stack them ?????

Thanks for ur replies

Yep, no problem, you can stack up to 3 cards (whichever type, they all work together) with an STDM cable. All inputs/outputs of all cards are accessible simultaneously.

Read the PDF manual inside SPF directory, it's all full explain with figures and tips.
Or read the manual that comes with the shipping pack.
Anyway U need a flat cable called STDM that allow to connect two or more cards internally in the case (just look, the creamware pci cards features one or more pin connection on the opposite edge from the pci connection).

Hi Guys,

You can get one from an authorized CWA dealer. And if they haven't one for you insform us about it, I'm sure somebody here can help you obtaining the STDM cable.

alright, this is very obliging...
If there is a need in the future i will come back on that.
So, everything cleared...
And, if i have Scope 4.5 on one card, but just 4.0 on the other - can i use the complete Scope 4.5 stuff and everything purchased for the one card ( eg Minimax, Adern Flexor ) on both cards? Do i have the two Midi IN´s / OUT´s and Analog IN´s / OUT´s in the puldown Menu then?
Or how does it work - softwarewise - with those cards stacked ?

and, btw, where are the smilies? I miss this smilies menu...

the Scope software will find all cards in the system and adress them as one unit.
There is no independant control of the cards, so the version 4 will see both, as will the version 4.5.
In earlier system versions it seemed Scope tried to 'replace' a missing S/TDM cable by communication over the PCI slot, which was a total performance breakdown (and useless).
In the current version it more or less stops with an error message about 'missing STDM connection' (I haven't verified that, tho)

The devices are registered to ONE card's serial number, it doesn't matter which card or where it's positioned as long as the card is present. In this context a card acts as a mega dongle (a very convenient one btw).
I've registered all my devices on one card and another one (which is not even registered at all) just acts as a DSP (and IO) extension.
In other cases it may be more convenient to register to several cards if they are supposed to be used in different PCs, for example one for recording apps and one as synth extension.

Anyway, if the cards are in one system all DSPs and IO ports are useable as if it was a single big system - it's really easy

cheer, Tom

Ah, this sounds really easy

.... and i found the smilies page
but the collection is not that big

...anyway - i will spam with more questions when i got the new card....

Best wishes

Please write something which gets me on the track again. I´m really depressed , i haven´t known enough and it was a direct buy on ebay.
Man i´m so stupid. Holy shit. Fuck this is so annoying...

Ok, and now i ask u guys , does anyone have the STDM cable or a schematic diagram or even detailed photos , or can one describe which connector and stuff one needs...?
Because i have to save my money now , after this fucking rip off.....

Cheers

You need a bus-cable and bus-connectors for making this s/tdm cable.
The tools you need, probably costs a lot more than the cable.

hmmm, i found the cable at thomann , but 15 euros is much for a 20 pin 0815 whatever tdm cable....
And , since i know now that i paid around 200 Euros too much - i am depressed.
I ever thought i´m action orientated - but this rip off seems to proove me wrong. I don´t want to depressed anymore - of course... But 200 bucks is much for me as a student...
So , anyway - thanks for the sympathy

this is a pretty exotic cable, so Thomann's price is reasonable - you may not know that the cable has 3 plugs...
If you happen to find the connectors (at all) in an electronic supply store, you possibly end at 10 Euro for the plugs alone.
Have you ever made a similiar cable yourself ?
It's not exactly difficult (with the right tools), but not too simple either

cheers, Tom

ps: as already mentioned, it's a rewarding product - and the super cheap card you missed could have been a total rip-off if the seller didn't send it to you (these things happen...)

One Question:

Do i need two S/TDM Cables to connect two Plusar 2 cards?
Because there are two connectors on each card???

one is enough. you can use two. depending on what kind of modules are in the project, one OR two would be better. you can experiment, or not worry about it.....

alright, i prefer the "not worry about it" option then

I just wanted to be sure, u never know...
