Am I missing something here?
how do I sync a VDAT in a other system then the one where I have my VRC-128 and Cubase running?
is there no other way then to use a syncplate?
can this not be done through adat??
thanks

I don't have the chance to try, but maybe the ClkO (output to connect to VDAT) can be routed to an ADAT destination, from there go to the other system (clock slave) with VDAT that receives that signal from an ADAT source.
I'm not sure that it works, the VRC's have to detect a connected VDAT in order to work, but maybe it can happen. That signal is basically a 32 bit ramp, an incredibly slow one, but absolutely transferable through ADAT ports.
Watch out not to connect it to an amplifier or speakers of sort as it may damage them badly.
If you try let me know how does it work, I'm really curious.

sync plate.

no Alfonso, unfortunally it does not work like that.
And yes like I said through syncplate but then you need two syncplate's and I only have one.

Hi,
Midi TimeCode (with adat connections) maybe if you can cope with poor resolution?

Did you try, instead, to load your VRC in the same system where you load the VDAT and send the digital clock that must go to the ASIO2 for Cubase through the digital ports? Maybe that way the VRC detects the connected VDAT and outputs the sync signal? Naturally the VDAT system must be also digital clk master..
If you try let me know...

I'm gonna try that soon. Let you know.
thanks again

hi
I'm back at my system now and had a look at my projekt.
How would you exactly route it, Alfonso?
use the clock out from the VDAT to sp-dif dest Dig in. but then how do I get my source in the other system ?
thanks for thinking with me!

no, Id just use a regular (say ADAT out1) digital out, the one usually used for audio signals, and reach the other system (that must be also wordclock slave) through a digital cable right in a digital input. In the new system you can route, say, ADAT in1 to the clk input of ASIO to sync Cubase.
In practice use that signal through a common digital audio connection, I can't imagine why shouldn't it work. I'd rather put the VDAT and the VRC in the same system and send only the signal to sync Cubase through this common audio connection, naturally digital in order to avoid the converters. That clk signal is nothing else than an audio-rate 32bit ramp, very very slow but by nature not different from any other audio signal, that allows sample rate precision.
More and more curious....
