anybody know where i can find a 12-16 pole filterbank, most seem to be 2-4, maybe 8pole

6 pole is 36 db, 12 pole is 72 db.
If you really need it, try to connect more than one filterbank for doubling the range.

do you know of a brand out there that has 10-16 pole filter (hardware)

but with the modular you can create your own very easily.

not steepness, i'm looking for more depth in the filter with the number of poles, with 2 or 4 pole you crank thru it quickly, but with 12-16 pole, the depth would be huge by many poles overlapping,

I wonder why you need that much 'depth' in these filters. For what purpose are you going to use them? Be aware that very steep filters introduce more phasing problems around the cutoff frequency.

I think what you are looking for is greater range in the resonance control. The number of poles in a filter are not "stepped through" as you suggest. The poles themselves are fixed values once selected. As others have already said, the number of poles determines the steepnees of the filter cutoff. Be -6 dB per octave or -24 dB/octave, the steepness is not continuously variable as your response would suggest. The "Q" parameter on a parametric EQ would give you what you want.

a guy who creates dopfre modulars told me that their is more depth in higher pole filters, resonance seems more dynamic because of the depth of the filter

Have you tried the filters in modular II/III? ( Flexor? )
