Hi Guys,

Anyone know what's the best way to change a drive letter from my system disk from G to C? I had to do a format of my C drive. Already unplugged other drives, restarting, but it won't go to C.

Anyone know of a workaround?

Cheers.

under win xp,
go to:

control panel/administration tools/computer management
choose disk management and right click the disk you want to change and choose change letter unit.

Nice one, thanks, only Windows does not allow the change of letter for the system drive.....

Partition Magic has a gimmick that'll do it, it goes thru the registry and makes all the necessary changes to paths, should handle system drives fine.

I strongly recomend you to use Acronis DisckDirector Suite for this, as you will solve the problems easity and securely. It doest it very well. You can also use PartitionMagic, from Symantec. Read the instruction and LEARN all about this topic, which is a dangerous one if you are not careful, then go change the letters.

Thanks for the replies.
There is an option in the registry to do this, to change drive letters, but there's a big chance that Windows will not boot after this. So be careful.

Golden rule when reformatting C is to first uplug the power of the other drives in your system (as I have learned).
